There might still be five wins on the schedule

    Northern Illinois 30 - 27 Iowa

    Bowling Green 34 - 7 Tulsa

    NDSU 24 - 21 K-State

    West Virginia 24 - 17 William & Mary

    And Kansas was idle.

Both of our remaining non-cons struggled in week one. As did both K-State and WVU. Tech hardly set the world on fire either. The bottom half of the Big XII is really bad this season. Getting 4-5 or even 6 wins is still very possible with our schedule. I don't think this season is going to be a 2-3 win dumpster fire.

We will lose every game with that effort from last night - fact.

Disgusted with the complete lack of desire in JTS from the football team. Pathetic.

Fix the effort and a lot can change.

Hmm, I didn't think the effort was lacking at all. I thought the defense was just out of position and offensive line was just beaten. Why do you think the effort wasn't there?

While its nice to rack up the wins, I honestly would settle for game to game marked improvement from this young group, with momentum that can be taken into next year. Combined with a good recruiting class containing several college ready kids, consistent improvement would go a long way. At this point, any W is icing on the cake. And we will have a few of them IMO.

I thought there was 5 before last night. Now I think there are 4.

I think we win 4. Thought that coming in. Still think that today. However I had UNI as one of the wins. So now we beat Tulsa.

Beat Iowa, Tulsa, KU at home, and WVU on road.

Probably going to need some wins to keep everybody in our current recruiting class.

I would add K-State, Baylor, or Tech to that as a fifth win. It is gonna be ugly against the top teams though.

We did not lose due to lack of effort, we lost because we couldn't tackle.

I agree...and like I said, I think we'll get some Ws. I think Lazard, Montgomery and, from what I hear, Seonbuchner will be here no matter what. That is the core group of the 2014 class, of which I speak, but certainly not discluding any of the other strong recruits.

We will NOT beat Baylor. You can cross that one off the list. K-State would be an upset, and Tech is probably at best a toss up right now.

Re: There might still be five wins on the schedule

If anything more of our wins will be upsets. I still definitely think there are five wins on the schedule though. This team will definitely improve, especially on defense, and I think you'll see huge improvement with each position group on defense, as well as with the offensive line.

I'd personally be happy this year with being competitive in every game. I still think we can do that. Frankly, I'm cautiously optimistic. Most of the staff knows what they are doing and the players aren't just going to throw the season away.

There might still be eleven wins on the schedule. Not a realistic outlook, but there it is.
