    Call of the Night

Though we got blown out in every possible category out there, and looked terrible on the field, there was one play tonight that really made me think poorly about Coach Rhoads. In fact, I thought he was Kirk Ferentz for a second.

With 35 seconds left in the first half, why in the world would we let a kicker more inconsistent than Carlos Marmol attempt a 54 yard field goal on 4th and 1?

    A) Rhoads had to have known there was at least a 80% chance he would miss it.

    B) We get that first down, we still have a chance at tying the game at half.

My entire section was wondering that exact same thing. Terrible, terrible play calling.

    Re: Call of the Night

As bad as everyone thinks Arceo is, because he missed some PAT's, he was great from distance last year. He was 8/12 from 40+.

Also, it was 4th and 5, not 4th and 1... huge difference.

That said, I still go for it there.

Yeah, it was 4th and 5. No matter, though.....still should have gone for it. That was a ridiculous call.

Looked like he was trying to kick it to the projected SEZ. Looked like a three iron into the trees.

We were all collectively scratching our heads. At that point it was evident we weren't playing to win.

    Re: Call of the Night

Another terrible call happened inside the red zone (2nd half). A second and 1 turned into a 3rd and 6 because we threw the ball backwards (screen). In fact we had at least three or four 2nd-and-1 situations where we lost ground. Why not put Woody in the game on those situations. Even if you don't run him - you keep the D more honest. I was so perturbed at our red zone play calling and execution during those two drives that resulted in FGs. Two TDs and we have ALL the momentum & perhaps a different outcome.

So what were we playing for then? You would have been ******** if it would have gotten stuffed and brought up the stat that Arceo was 8-12 last yar from deep.

Even though you pointed out that he is more inconsistent than Carlos Marmol, it's still insulting to Carlos to include him in a discussion of our kicking unit.

It is pretty bad we lose to a local 13k FCS school up the street and cannot even blame the refs.

Paragraphs? If you want someone to read your complaint, make it readable.

I see anger, but I can't tell why. It's too messy to want to figure it out.

    Re: Call of the Night

I agree, I edited it 2 times, put paragraphs in, but nothing saved. This seems to happen on occasion. I am very sorry, seriously. I am being a dick because I am shocked at the way I was treated tonight and I want to be heard.
