Chizik Worst Coach to Win National Championship!

Guest on college game day just made this statement and I completely agree.

I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to see more and more planets fall under the ruthless domination of our solar system.

Heard that as well. There isnt a more accurate statement that has ever been said in the history of the world.

    Was the guest Gus Malzahn?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I'd rather be the worst to win one than the best without one.

Re: Chizik Worst Coach to Win National Championship!

Chizik as the worst coach to win a national championship is almost a fact. His career record as head coach is 38-38. Take out the extremes at each end (14-0 in 2010, 2-10 in 2008) and his average coaching record is 22-28. The only other NC-winning coach to approach this level of mediocrity is Bobby Ross at GT; he has a 103-101-2 head coaching record.

No other coach has been fired faster after winning a national championship. Chizik was fired two years after he hoisted the NC trophy, Larry Coker was fired four years after winning a national championship at Miami.

Add in the Cam Newton recruiting scandal and the off-field problems and arrests at Auburn, and Chizik is your clear-cut winner (loser?)

Re: Chizik Worst Coach to Win National Championship!

You know, I was really PO'd when the Chiz won that championship. At the time, it looked like he had truly made the right decision to punk us and leave for Auburn. But now, looking back on it, I think it's pretty awesome that he had the fastest utter fall from grace that any college coach has had in history. If he had gone 10-2 or something and then just had a couple of mediocre years then got canned, no one would really think much of him in 10-20 years. But now.....everyone will remember him as the worst college coach to ever win a NC game, until someone supplants him, and that will be difficult to do.

Sure, the Chiz got away with a pile of money from Auburn, but I still think that someone's legacy, their integrity, means something. And it would be worth an awful lot to me to have built a great legacy rather than leave in such disgrace, even if it came with a ton of money.
