    Game watch in Cedar Rapids?

Is there going to be an official game watch in CR tomorrow? I was probably going to go to the Fieldhouse on Blairs Ferry if there is not an official site. Living in Robins, I don't get Mediacom, which in most cases in not a bad thing.

I think the Fieldhouse is the only bar that gets Mediacom, the rest of them have DirectTV or Dish.

I'll say it once, and I'll say it a hundred times. I am fully interested in any game watch in the Cedar Rapids area. However, I absolutely refuse to go to a place that is decked out in black and gold hawk junk to watch the cyclones. Doesn't make any sense. There has to be another place the Alumni association can pick. It's like going to Lombardi Ave in Green Bay to watch every bears game and cheer for them.

I seriously agree. I don't know why they can't get one of the BWW's or other chain type place to agree to have the game on at least one TV if nothing else.

The Fieldhouse is where then alumni Association has their official game watches. If there is another place that will have the game on, I am perfectly willing to go elsewhere.

Re: Game watch in Cedar Rapids?

I went to the tailgate tour in CR this year, there are a lot of fans in the area! I guarantee if they had it on "neutral ground" or a place that is more "pro-ISU" people would show up like crazy. Sorry Fieldhouse, but you are never getting my business. It's okay to support a team, but it's literally their business model to support the U of I. Go to their facebook page. Almost every picture on there is related to Iowa Hawkeyes. There are even pictures on there with people wearing "BEAT STATE" on them. Don't support that house of chicken hawks. From the reviews I've seen, their food and service sucks too.

End rant. Suck it field house.

Alumni Association - pick somewhere else, it will be better for everyone involved.

The Fieldhouse is a joke for a place to have gamewatches. Completely pro Hawkeye, and absolutely horrible food. All frozen garbage.

I just got off the phone with Buffalo Wild Wings on Blairs Ferry. He told me that while he can't guarantee anything until corporate sends out their list at midnight, they DO have one output from Mediacom. So it sounds likely BWW should have the game available.

I also checked Third Base, because they've been great about having ISU games available, but they don't have Mediacom.

I also dislike the notion of Cyclones giving business to the Hawk homers at the Field House. Last year when I called to see if they had the ISU game on (when it was a direct conflict with the Hawks), they literally scoffed at me and said every TV they had would have the Iowa game and only the Iowa game.

And yes, I know the meaning of both "literally" and "scoffed." I stand by my words.

Not many places in CR that aren't pro-hawk, if any. Someone needs to start up a place of refuge for us. Isn't mahoney's owned by an alum?

Agreed. I've gone to the Pinstripe gamewatch and it was fine, but its pretty hard ignore that Iowa junk.

Bushwoods would be the perfect place for an ISU gamewatch. They are completely neutral with even UNI stuff, plus they have mediacom.

Really people just need to start going to a place and asking for the game. Get a handful of people and you'll get a TV, keep that growing and eventually you'll get all the TVs.

It's perfectly fine if an establishment wants to be pro-hawk in CR. They are pretty close to the U of I. However, if they plaster it all over the walls and rub it in your face, I won't go there.

Jerseys on C street is pro-hawk, but they have an Iowa State beer light right next to their Iowa one. At least they try to please everyone. I'm not sure if they have Mediacom, but I went there to watch ISU vs KU basketball game where we got hosed in Hilton. The service is good, and they have good food.

I can't go this Saturday, but in the future I'm up for getting together at some establishment and watching the game in Cedar Rapids. If someone finds a good place, just let us all know.
