Week 1 HS FB. Annual "Who do you cheer for" thread

What connections to what teams does everyone have? Who do you pull for?
I've got friends coaching all over. Brother that coaches and one that plays at A-P. Waverly. Independence. Monticello. WIlliamsburg. LinnMar. Mediapolis. I live in the shadows of Centennial and know a bunch of their coaches so I'll be pulling for them all but 1 week. And of course the Maroons.
I've got to know a ton of coaches over my short career so far and I've learned there are a lot of good people coaching the young men around our state.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Davenport North. I think I might have played on the last North team with a winning record. We went 6-3 back in 1989. That's pretty damn embarrassing.

I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. During the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
“Because,” says the Lord, “Sandpeople always ride single-file, to hide their numbers.”

My friend's brother is HC at Clarke but I don't really follow them. I've never been to a HS game in Iowa. Moved to Iowa from Ohio after graduating HS myself, so no connections.

Who do you know that coaches at Mepo? I live in Wapello, Mepo will probably crush us next week, and film for Wapello. No more kids in school now, my youngest is at Wartburg running cross country and track.

On a score-only basis, I'll check out my HS (Harlan) and the surrounding schools as well (IKM-Manning, Avoca-AHST, Exira-EHK). My wife is a Denison grad, so our household gets two rivalry games this weekend...I plan to dominate once again.
