Former ISU OL Coach Jim Williams

Not sure how many of you remember him from his days at ISU but here is a good read on him as he begins his 61st season coaching football. I've had the pleasure of being with him going on 9 years. He has some awesome stories to tell about his time at ISU. Fun Fact- He was in East Dubuque at the same time as a young bball coach was getting his start there. They both played on the Star Brewery semi pro team together. 30 some years later they both found themselves coaching at ISU. The other much more well-known. Coach Johnny Orr.

Cool story! Wasn't he the O-Line coach under both Bruce and Duncan?
What do you mean, 'being with him for 9-years'?

Re: Former ISU OL Coach Jim Williams

    Shoulda kept readin...

    "....
After the 1975 season, Williams was offered a job as an offensive line coach at Iowa State University under head coach Earl Bruce. Bruce began a relationship with Jim through camps and the college football recruiting process due to the many players the Maroons were producing under his tutelage. Bruce landed the Ohio State job a few years later and Donnie Duncan came in from Oklahoma as the new Cyclone coach and his first hire was to keep Williams on the staff as the offensive line coach and the assistant head coach."

I as on the 1996 and 97 Simpson teams that he coached and coached for a couple of years with him as an assistant. The guy is an amazing coach ho does a great job of both motivating and understanding his players. He is very old school. The Wisconsin Whitewater win was an amazing game.
