Gadget guy loves his new robo

A few years ago I found an iRobot Roomba at an overstock outlet store. I had been looking at them, but doubted they really worked, and was not willing to spend hundreds of dollars to find out. There were two models on the shelf. One was an older, less featured model with a $75 price tag. The other was a current top-of-the-line model with no price tag. So I asked the price and the guy went to his terminal and after about 5 minutes came back with the same $75 price. SOLD!

I still didn't expect it to really work and was shocked to ind out it really did. I ended up buying a second one for my Ames condo. The second one came in a bundled deal with a Scooba, which is a Vacume/scrubber for hard floors. I was never to thrilled with the Scooba. A wet Swiffer of similar mob does a better job, faster and is less work. The Scooba needs cleaned when finished and it leaves water marks on a tile floor.

So this brings me to my latest robot purchase - the Baava (formerly called Mint). This thing is awesome. It is nothing more than a robot pushing around a wet or dry microfiber cloth. Or you can use disposable Swiffer pads if you like. Unlike the Roomba and Scooba, this thing navigates in a very efficient manner, rather than relying on random coverage. I first put on the dry microfiber cloth. My floor looked clean, but that cloth was gross when finished. This thing is cool. I'm using the wet cloth now.

I bought a Neato this summer when in was on woot.com and love it. I have a dog and two cats and it does an amazing job with the pet hair.
