    I don't believe the NCAA cares whether you are a licensed agent or not. If you sign with someone to arrange contracts for you, that is a violation of the rules.

    Seems to me that he was suspended 1/2 game for signing memorabilia when he knew the brokers were intending to sell them. And if that's the case, they better suspend just about every star college athlete for 1/2 a game, because if they honestly believe all the 40 year old men showing up and asking for their autographs are going to keep them and not sell them - please. I saw it at Fan Fest on Sunday - the mini helmets, the footballs, the basketballs. Every Cyclone athlete who signs an autograph for someone other than a kid knows there is more than a reasonable chance the item will be sold.

    You're right. Despite what 3 different people associated to the transaction say, I'm sure he received no benefit for signing 4,000 items. I would be happy to sign my name 4,000 times for good will.

    My point is the point many others have made in this thread, which I assume you wouldn't disagree with: they should either give him a real suspension or none. If there is proof he deserves longer, but if none, he shouldn't have even gotten the half game.

    I would agree with that - I'd bet that since the NCAA has no subpoena power, and speculate that A&M really didn't cooperate, the NCAA begged the school to give him something...even 1/2 a game. I'd also bet Penn State is kicking themselves for commissioning the Freeh report...
