    Need computer help

    I have a computer that won't connect to the Internet. The green online light just blinks instead of being solid. I've tried unplugging many times but doesn't help. When it's working right it says its connected to network 4 and when it won't connect it says network 3. Any advice would be appreciated.

    garbage in garbage out or gigo
    more info the better otherwise your going to get garbage for troubleshooting

    It's a wired system with a netgear modum. Windows 7.

    Is the Netgear just a modem or a modem/router combo? Is only the one PC plugged in?

    I am just trying to figure out your set up, so I can try to diagnose where the issue is.

    Just one computer and the netgear is just a modem. The blinking green light is not the Ethernet it's the online/Internet light. I already talked to mediacom customer service and they show my modem as offline. They'll be sending a tech out promptly in nine days.

    Ok, so it sounds like the problem is between the modem and the outside world. I can't help a whole lot in that area, especially considering I have no experience with Mediacom internet. It could just be a configuration issue, or it could be cable issues, or plenty of other things.

    If you live near Des Moines, take your modem to Mediacom office and trade for a new one. That should eliminate the modem as the problem and the 9 day wait. I've had some luck by just disconnecting the modem from the cable and the power source for about 30 seconds --- then trying it again.

    This and make sure the cable is connected securely and no splitter between where it comes in your house and the modem.

    so after three days the modem is connecting to the internet again. all I did was disconnect and reconnect multiple times. when the tech gets here next week I'll have him check the line coming into the house. don't know what else it would be.
