Re: Q&A: Charlie Rogers recaps his fall camp

All I know is that high-top hairdo is awesome.

Otherwise, great read and nice to hear players continuing to be humble but still hungry to go out and prove things to everyone.

Another nice article, Chris. You're hittin' it hard!

Interesting to see that Cotton-Moya is his "little brother"--and playing safety and nickel.

Re: Q&A: Charlie Rogers recaps his fall camp

nice article. CR sounds like he is a pretty humble kid that is trying to do what he can to help the team. It will be interesting how it all shakes out, but for a team with very few returning defenders the reports out of camp have been pretty darn positive.

So glad he didn't leave last spring. One of the rare cases of there being a little smoke, but no fire.

The "smoke" being that people were wildly misinterpreting his twitter posts?

I don't know why, but I feel like we are all gonna really like Cotton-Moya before his time in Ames is done.

Glad to hear the guys are adjusting well to that stupid targeting rule. I get that head injuries are serious but to give the officials who blow calls all the time another way to directly impact the outcome of games by allowing them to eject players for "targeting" hits is crazy. ISU has been penalized several times in the past for targeting and the calls were highly questionable. What happens when another highly questionable call is made and a starter gets ejected from the game? The officials better be prepared for CPR if or when this happens because he will be ******.

I'm not sure you'll find many people who think the implentation of this rule (although good natured) is a good thing. There will be a game of national significance that this happens in and the nation will be up in arms.

A blown call of this magnitude has the potential to cost teams games and it is such a tough call to make. My hope is that unless it is a blatantly obvious helmet to helmet shot on a defenseless player that the officials will not make the call. If they call this tight then it will certainly create problems.

Re: Q&A: Charlie Rogers recaps his fall camp

Q: Yeah. Have you found yourself taking more of those trying to impress somebody to win the job?
CR:I mean, yeah. That’s what all competition is about, trying to get an upper edge on your teammate just to get that starting position. I have taken chances. Sam has taken chances. Ken has taken chances. There is a matter of competing. The more that we all compete on the field, the better the DBs will be overall.

This is the kind of answer you like to hear. This kid isn't afraid. He wants to make big plays and my guess is that he will make a lot of them during his time in Ames. I can't wait to see him unleash that competitive side on ISU's opponents this season.

Think if ISU gets a commitment from Micquell Cotton. They could have three Cottons in the defensive backfield. That's a lot of Cotton!

This kid will be the best pro ISU gets to the league in the next 5 years.
