Harley Davidsons, and jacked up trucks.

    Random Thought--
My how times have changed, when I was young ( admittedly a long time ago) if you had a loud exhaust on your vehicle, either on purpose or not you were likely to get a ticket if you "got on it". Now motorcycles can cackle all they want , and jacked up trucks also. I don't really care, but why did anyone used to care about the noise? If I had an old SS that loud would anyone care?

"Loud pipes save lives," according to A.B.A.T.E. I attribute it to the exponentially increasing amount of Dbags in our 'look at me' society. There's a great South Park episode on Harley riders.

Yes, it's annoying as **** to have to listen to that. It's nothing but noise pollution. Just as bad and stupid as blasting your bass so you can be heard approaching from three blocks away. It says a lot of things, but "I'm cool" isn't one of them.

All people who make sweepingly generalized, stupid, uninformed comments are idiots.

If they were that concerned about safety, the same people with loud pipes would also never ride without a helmet, correct? Hmmmm........

Re: Harley Davidsons, and jacked up trucks.

When I was young, I thought it was pretty neat. Now every dbag on the culdesac has a Harley and plays dress up on the weekends. Ive said this a hundred times but if you want to learn to hate motorcycles, move downtown, its not the trains that get ya, its the hardleys that go by every 10 minutes in a loop and rev up their POS bikes. If youre gonna have a bike at least get something with some power.

The loud trucks were my thing at a young age, now all you see is clapped out chevys with "bull balls" hanging off the back and some bull **** nascar or dirt track racing sticker on the back. Or even better some hunting related sticker to let everyone know that they are outdoorsy. Ya I get it you "live to hunt" and know a guy that owns a derby car neat.

On the other hand, if you have a car that is older than 72 and you want to beat on it and make noise, have at it. I will admit to lighting them up past the golf course in my home town in the 56 which may or may not be street legal and love it when others do it while im golfing.

Re: Harley Davidsons, and jacked up trucks.

I own a Harley and love it, but my pipes have baffles in them so I don't look like the douchers trying to break eardrums when they get on them. I don't have stock exhaust because the bike don't run worth a crap when it has the stock exhaust, but my pipes aren't loud as heck either. Happy medium is I........:)

I agree on the loud pipes, making a joke of an engine sound even worse by adding pipes is weak. On the other hand I don't mind aftermarket exhausts on certain cars but nothing obnoxious.

Lifted trucks is something else I don't understand unless you're competing against Bigfoot. After owning a truck for a month, I can't imagine wanting to be higher in the air. Handling in trucks already sucks and lifting them just makes it worse. They do look cooler I guess. I'm jealous of my friend who has air bags in his Ram that allows him to lower the truck.

bringmagicback-you'll be happy to know that I don't hunt, have any stickers, have any hitch balls, own a gun, etc. I even stripped off the 4x4 emblems that it came with from the factory.

Most cities still have these laws on the books (I know Ames does). I would suggest filing reports and see where you get.

The common denominator between people with their bass shaking buildings is normally either
    a) high school kids who think it's cool
    b) old guy living in his parents' basement who thinks they're a tough ***

For some reason I have a bigger issue with Harleys. I guess I give the younger group a pass and they'll figure it out when they grow up. Most Harley owners are old enough to know they shouldn't be a ****** to those around them, yet do it anyway.

I have a 4dr jk with a lift and 37inch tires, does that count as a lifted truck? In my defense I legitimately need it for ground clearance and it does not have exhaust.

...they pay a heck of a lot more at the pump when they fill up their tank.
