KO hardship case denied by NCAA

Just my opinion, but this organization needs a house-cleaning and a re-write of its rules. Rutgers transfer denied hardship waiver by NCAA - College Basketball News | FOX Sports on MSN

Re: KO hardship case denied by NCAA

Id have no problem with them not allowing the transfer waiver IF they were consistent about it. But yet it seems so often a player is able to claim 'hardship' that seems tenuous at best going to one of the big-name schools and its immediately granted, yet we get cases like this where it should be an obvious waiver denied. That's the NCAA's biggest problem with its rules enforcement overall, consistency. If youre going to throw the book all the time, do it all the time, if youre going to be lenient all the time, do that all the time as well.

If his mom wasn't still there, I could see there being a difference, but considering he's essentially moving back for his mother's well-being, it seems stupid not to grant the waiver.

I would like to be in the decision room. There have been guys who've had sick relatives (who didn't die) and gotten waivers.

Yes, I believe Rutgers is planning on appealing the decision.

Too bad KO isn't an ex-servicemember. This decision would be overturned immediately.

Unfortunately true, and that is what is so sickening. I understand the guy served our country, but it's not like Kerwin was some ******* kid that didn't go to class, smoke a bunch of pot and get in trouble with women. The guy lost two of the most important people in his life and this is what he gets in return...a swift kick in the nards.

Re: KO hardship case denied by NCAA

I thnk Bilas made reference to this earlier in mentioning that if a kid's dad is a coach and gets fired he can transfer anywhere without sitting out, but if your dad dies of a stroke and you go closer to home to take care of your grieiving mother, no luck.

A kid going home to tend to his mother grieiving from the lose of her husband and son exudes integrity, yet the NCAA rules structured to maintain "ameatuer integrity" prevent it. They are so freaking worried about a slippery slope that they refuse to make reasoned decisiosn.
