Meet the Coaches.....Couch, or No Couch....

A few years ago at Meet the Coaches Night, the decision was made to have JW bring up the coaches, sit on the couch Ophra-style, and talk about their programs. The exception has always been Mac and CPR - the fb and final speakers who talk from the podium....can't remember if The Chiz did that as well...so the question is: What style do we prefer? 'On the Couch' or 'At the Podium'. CPR's knuckles usually have turned white from his death-grip on the dias by the end of his speech....but it's pretty good stuff! Some others, like Christy Johnson, seem to do well 'on the couch'....but a guy like BF doesn't. Bill's a pretty funny guy...but it's harder to 'be funny' when he has to banter back and forth with JW. He's much better at the podium where he can toss out a couple verbal barbs at KJax or others....then sit back and laugh when they shoot back when it's their turn. So I guess I'm more of a fan of letting them take their turn at the podium like we used to do....and scrap the couch. What do others think?

I like the couch format. Its more relaxed and conversational, and you can tell they have fun with it. You can watch a speech on a podium at any number of other events throughout the year.

I think they should pick one way and go all the same. I'd like to see CPR on the couch. Might cool his jets a bit and get him to talk a little more about some of the players. As a poster above said, it's something different than what you normally see.

Some good lines from last night. Freddie on Doc Sadler having his foot up Percy's butt, Freddie commenting on Abdelmassih's new wife being special, and then CPR saying the same about Carol Hoiberg.
