"This isn't the end of the world if Iowa State can't win this week. We're going to sure try but this is the first of six nationally ranked teams we're going to play in the next six weeks."

And Dan Hawkins of Colorado comment for comparison,"You remember when you were playing catcher when you were playing Little League and you forgot to wear your cup and the pitcher put one into the ground? That's kind how I feel." -- Colorado coach Dan Hawkins after a 14-10 loss to rival Colorado State. And do not enter this contest:

    Re: Mac Comments on Iowa

What he's saying is representative of what a lot of ISU fans are saying. Iowa isn't the most important game anymore. We have tons of tough games this year and we're going to have to focus on all of them, and we also aren't going to win all of them. Losing to a ranked team in non-conference play is definitely not the worst thing that will could happen to ISU this year.

    Exactly.......
    Win the conference is #1
Take a laid back approach to Iowa and go in slinging to our recievers at game time.

The guys who did the Big 10 prediction says ISU 25 Iowa 24 but then states that the score should be switched if Tate plays.

    Re: Mac Comments on Iowa

McCarney wants his team to watch out for Young, Sims and everyone else.
``Both those backs, Young and Sims, are just outstanding,'' he said.
``Whenever their careers are over at Iowa, they'll be playing at the next
level, there's no doubt about it. I don't throw those things out easily.
``Those are outstanding, physical, fast running backs. So we'd better be
really good. We're going to see a much better offense this week than we saw
the first two weeks, regardless of who is at quarterback. We're going to see a
much better rush offense than we saw the first two weeks.''

"It's well documented my respect for Drew Tate," McCarney said. "I've known his stepdad, Dick Olin, forever. What a great family he comes from.

"I just fully anticipate he'll play, and I'm sure he'll be ready. If you're a senior with Iowa State coming to Kinnick Stadium, it's your last shot, it's amazing the recovery guys can have with their health."

    Re: Mac Comments on Iowa

    Parker/Johnson The Dynbamioc Duo comments:
Johnson didn't play in Iowa State's opener last week against Toledo, but Parker made an immediate impact. With Toledo in Cyclone territory late in regulation and threatening to get into game-winning field-goal position, the 6-foot, 245-pounder came up with two quarterback sacks, sending the game into overtime.

That showed the quickness and big-play ability Iowa State loved when they recruited him.

"I said in February when we signed him that I thought we had two players that should be national recruits that were not, and they were Rashawn Parker and (quarterback) Austen Arnaud," McCarney said. "Neither one of them disappointed me in camp. Stick those guys in Chicago or Miami or Dallas or Houston or Los Angeles, bigger cities, and there would have been all kinds of offers.
