Very good article--some interesting insights and pretty well written, as well. Having heard some of his radio work in the Twin Cities, I could definitely see Safe getting into broadcasting now that his playing days in the NFL are over.

Great insight into a game that I'll never forget, even as a Packers fan. I always thought Favre took too much blame for that loss and it is interesting to hear this perspective from someone as involved with the situation as Sage was.

I felt it was a good read as well.... I'm biased, however, since I am a Vikings fan...

Hopefully this makes Favre have much less haters. The guy loved/loves the game more then probably anybody. Put his heart, soul, blood, sweat into each snap.

Re: Sage Rosenfels reflects on Brett Favre during 2009 Saints vs Vikings game

There's no reason Farve should have even had to throw the ball on that down anyway. The 12 men on the field penalty before that was the biggest "choke" of the game.

Think what you will of Favre, that guy laid it all on the line that game and he took a beating like I've never seen a NFL QB take. If you haven't ever seen pictures of his ankle, you should see (google) them just to appreciate what he played through.

Saints won a Super Bowl with the strategy of hurting Favre and Kurt Warner. Kind of sad.

Here is Dan Barreiro's interview with Sage on the KFAN afternoon drive time show regarding Sage's article on Peter King's site:

And as an added bonus, an appearance by the mythical "Packa Backa" himself, Carl Gerbschmidt.

I know my opinion doesn't count as a Vikings fan, but if that game is played clean Minnesota wins. Favre got lit up after a HB toss by a defensive end IIRC! Never seen that before in my life. His injuries sustained on late hits affected his ability to perform in the game and on the fateful interception he threw.

Not to mention the questionable overtime challenges/changing of the OT rule immediately after Minnesota got screwed.

Statistically the Vikings dominated the game. Stupid fumbles by BB and AD, are what lost the game. Favre kept them in the game the whole way. This was a fantastic write up by Sage.
