Does Bulaga's injury change anything in the NFC?

Packers may be scrambling at left tackle - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN

Obviously Green Bay is still a force in the conference, but you'd have to think that losing Bulaga is a serious blow. It seems like all of the "top" teams in the NFC are getting bitten by the injury bug lately.

Packers have had terrible luck keeping OL healthy the last several years. At least it seems that way.

One thing is certain - they can't have 50-some sacks on Rodgers again this year. At some point - it will take its toll. Part of it is AR's fault, but the line has been far from great.

One of Rogers' biggest issues has always been holding the ball too long. I remember his first season or two it was really bad. Last few years it's gotten better - but still a weakness.

Losing your rock on your blind side has been proven to be very tough to replace - should be interesting.

Wesley's Humor-Simulator 6.0 software subscription is up, I see. Trying to get by on some knock off freeware version. Just spend the $39.99, man. It's worth it.

Maybe, maybe not. It's not as if Bulaga is a world beater or all pro caliber talent, plus he's never played the position at the NFL level before so we can't even be sure how competent he would have been. There are still a handful of decent free agents out there (Sean Locklear, Jared Gaither) or they might just flip last year's LT back to his old position and reshuffle the line with guys already on the roster.

Well the Packers obviously thought he was one of their best o-lineman or they wouldn't have put him at LT.

Re: Does Bulaga's injury change anything in the NFC?

    Semi-related question for the field:

How do you rate the Packers' roster besides the QB position?

I do not want to start a war here, but, to me, they do not really have the most talented group out there in the league. Some of the big contributors of the past few years are gone as free agents or retired. Rodgers is, of course, a beast that gives them a chance to win absolutely any game almost by himself with his arm and his legs, but the rest of the team isn't that special.

I would wonder where they would rank with an average quarterback or a Ponder-que one. Probably not too highly. You could probably put Rodgers on any mid-level team (i.e. St. Louis, Kansas City, Cincinnati) and turn them into a Super Bowl favorite or contender pretty quickly, though.

"So let me get this straight: you want to fly on a magic carpet, to see the king of the potato people, and plead with him for your freedom... and you're telling me you're completely sane? I think that calls for two hours of W-O-O."

True, but that doesn't change the fact that he's an unknown commodity as an NFL left tackle having never played so much as a snap there.

My point was that we don't know if this changes much for the NFC hierarchy because we don't know how good he would be at that spot.

I remember in 2009 when Bulaga was out against ISU, and everyone was thinking ISU might be able to beat Iowa with him out. ISU scored first to go up 3 points. Then, well, .......
