All I know is the Big 12 makes more per school with 1st and 2nd tier rights than the Big 10 makes per school with 1st, 2nd, and BTN 3rd tier rights. When you add on 3rd tier rights, Kansas made something like $7 million on top of that, therefore making at least $7 million more than any Big 10 school.

Re: Cyclones TV coming to Mediacom in HD

Sorry if this has already been asked..

So, the Mediacom channel is 24/7 Cyclones. Will this be live-streamed on Cyclones.tv website? I understand on the Cyclones.TV website, you can watch all of the content on-demand. But if I want to just let it stream for a few hours, can I do that just like the Mediacom channel? Or, do I have to select which items to watch on-demand. Maybe nobody knows yet, but I'm curious if the website will have an option to actually watch the Mediacom channel, all Cyclones, all the time.

This just occured to me regarding increased exposure/keeping the brand in front of people.

I don't think it is unrealistic to expect that in many sports bars (especially larger ones) across the region they'll have at least a TV or two turned to Cyclone.TV programming at all times.

That would be pretty cool and I hope they offer that.

Exactly, I got no problem with people asking for streams of ESPN or other national broadcasts. Heck, I did it all the time last basketball season. I live out of country and it's the only way I can get almost any of the games. But Cyclones.tv is an ISU AD product with money going right back the AD and being reinvested in Cyclone athletics. It's available to anyone with a computer, regardless of location and costs hardly anything in terms of most entertainment subscription services.

Also, if you renew your Cyclones.tv in the offseason they usually have an "early bird" deal of 64$ for 12 months. That is an outstanding deal. I think it expired last week, but something to think about for the future.

Same. That would be good. Kind of similar to the B1G2GO model where you have access to all the archived video content, but can also watch the live feed from BTN. Hope they offer this.

Re: Cyclones TV coming to Mediacom in HD

I wonder if Mediacom will ever try to sell this to national providers ala many of the Comcast sports networks like Comcast Chicago for instance. I'm not going to pretend that it would fetch a high price or there would be overwhelming demand for it, but we have a substantial alumni presence in many metro areas and there are enough sports fans nationwide that it could be worth something very small to cable providers (ie. 1/10th of a cent per subscriber per month) to add to a channel line up. PBS for kids, for instance, has a whole sale price of appx 4 cents per subscriber, so it would be a big cut to even those prices charged by relatively unpopular channels with more nationwide appeal. It would also be a huge discount from the 70 cents charged by the BTN and 40 cents sought by the Longhorn Network. However, BYU.tv reaches over 50 million homes by charging a much lower wholesale price. I realize they have the nationwide Mormon following that ISU does not have, but even at ridiculously low wholesale rates, I wonder if Cyclones.tv wouldn't make more money by going nationwide than it does on a per subscriber basis on the internet. Even at 1/10th of a cent per month at 50 million subscribers, that is $600k annually and probably more than Cyclones.tv pulls in revenue wise on the internet would be my guess and it gives us a bigger audience to improve our brand and for recruits and their parents to watch our games (especially Olympic sports).

Pipe dream probably, but I would have never guessed we'd have a 24/7 Cyclones channel either and I would love to be able to watch me some Cyclones.tv out here in Cali. Hopefully, they will have a live stream on the internet feed to get that for me.

The ONLY reason I have kept Mediacom is one word, CYCLONES. That is all.

Everything I have heard is that it will be in the base package, but I'm sure a Mediacom rep could tell you for sure. Last season most of the non-con bball games were on Cyclones.tv.

The contract calls for at least 1 football game, 10 men's basketball games and I would guess that it will probably have most women's basketball, volleyball, wrestling, etc. matchups.

It expired last night at midnight.

Hmmmm so I have direct tv because mediacom was charging me way too much but I did keep their phone and internet. I'm not a cyclone tv subscriber, but does anyone know if you can watch the new channel online without being a cyclones tv suscriber and only having mediacom internet
