I agree. Not even a clear favorite like other conferences. Maybe the top 4-5 will beat up on each other throughout the year and we can catch a few teams off guard over looking us. Here's to the underdog role.

I'm not sure what's funnier, KU at 7th by that guy or the 2 people picking BU to end 1st with a QB that took 0 snaps.

If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls

Didn't they do this for Notre Dame as well, when Weis was there. Constantly picking them to finish high, only to see them fall on their face? You'd think by now, it would actually be a bad thing to have Charlie Weis as your coach.

Fowler is an idiot. He has Texas winning the big 12. Iowa State last. Kansas 7th. TCU 6th. I easily would wager that NONE of those hold true.

    Re: CBS makes their picks

Stuff like this really puts into perspective the uphill battle that is football at ISU. We are going into year 5 of the CPR rebuilding effort. An effort that pretty much everyone will tell you is going pretty well. And despite that, we are being picked 9th or 10th across the board, holding off a KU program that has one 1 conference game over the last three years (1-25 since 2010).

The thing is, you can't really argue with any of it. CW just released his picks, which I think are right about on the money, with us going 6-6 (3-6). That would match our record from the previous 2 seasons, which placed us 8th and 9th.

It is a sobering reality. Almost has me looking forward to basketball.

    Re: CBS makes their picks

I'm crossing my fingers that this 2013 is going to surprise everyone, kind of like the 2000 team that went 9-3. The schedule is much tougher now, but there is always a team every year that the media never saw coming. Why not Iowa State?
