Get to the top half of the B12. You can say simply getting to a bowl with this schedule would be an accomplishment (and yes, it would be) but to get better as a program you need to start getting to the higher-end bowls after the regular season ends.

    Any of these:

    Bowl game
Top half of the Big 12
Extremely competitive in every loss (I'm talking no losses by more than 10 points or so)

Going to a bowl game. Winning the bowl game and finishing with a winning record would be a cherry on top.

Going 6-6 and making a bowl game would make me happy.

    Any of these:

Top half of the Big 12
    Win bowl game
Finish with winning record (tied in with winning a bowl game)

7-6 Overall would be the worst I would accept as a successful season. .500 or worse would not be.

CPR is the first guy to tell everyone that while ISU has had some tremendous wins along with going to 3 bowl games in 4 years that he is not at all satisfied with those results. Finishing in the top half of the conference standings is what he wants and I am sure he sees that as the programs #1 priority at this point in time. ISU has things moving in the right direction with fan support, funding, facilities, recruiting (I'll explain), and now they just need to make the results on the field match the other areas in improvement.

As far as recruiting goes ISU is making strides in the caliber of kids they are bringing in. Now any person that doesn't know **** about college football (most hok fans) can point to ISU's ranking in recruiting classes in the Big XII around 9th or 10th usually and claim ISU's recruiting has not improved. What those morons would not understand is the challenges of recruiting in the Big XII. ISU is recruiting against TCU, Texas Tech, Texas, and Baylor in the state of Texas. These schools are all located in one of the largest recruiting hotbeds in the country. Now... do you think it would be easier for those programs to recruit and get highly talented kids from Texas to stay home or for ISU to get those kids to leave home and come to Ames, IA? It's obvious that ISU is at a significant disadvantage recruiting against those schools in the state of Texas. Now they have to recruit against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Now Oklahoma is a powerhouse program and has been for decades so that is self explanitory. Then you have Oklahoma State a program which is very much on the rise in national prominence and has been doing very well over the last 4 or 5 years. Then you have K-State... a program that has been on a fast ascent since Snyder returned from the grave to coach again. Did anyone see K-State last year? I heard they were a national title contender until they were upset on the road late in the season.... Is that true? Of course it is and another tough program to recruit against. Then you have West Virginia... a program that really recruits in far different areas of the country then ISU does so they never really compete for recruits. I can't really speak much to the quality of the WVU recruiting classes. Then you have Kansas... well there isn't much to say about their recruiting at all so I won't waste any time doing it.

As you can see it is crazy to think that ISU hasn't improved in recruiting just based off of their class ranks among the Big XII conference. ISU would need to have Oklahoma State or recent K-State type seasons to be able to move up very far in the recruiting class rankings in the Big XII. It's the only way that ISU would be able to beat the Texas schools when recruiting in their backyard or against programs with recent national prominence like Okie State and K-State.

    It's Prohm Time!!
