    2014 class by the numbers

    Rather than discuss individual targets specifically I'd like to know how you guys think this class is going to shape up;

    # total commits?
    # commits at each position?

    TIA

18 Scholarships available if nobody else leaves (According to my figuring, we have 16 scholarship seniors plus 2 available scholarships)

    0 QB
    2 RB (Syria & Mister)
    3 WR (Lazard & Salters)
    2 TE (Schaffner)
    2 OL (Kodonko)
    2 DT
    1 DE
    2 LB (Seonbuchner)
1 Safety (Northrup who may end up at LB)
    2 CB (Holmes & Ruth)
    0 K
    1 P

I don't think Mister will be a RB.
Also it's likely the two schollies will be given to walk ons. But I'm sure there will be some attrition so 18-19is probably about right for class size.

Yeah those two will probably be given to walkons, but one will probably be to Coleman who is a senior anyway. The other could be for Austin Krick or Ben Boesen who are walkons on the depth chart.

Pretty good estimate. As usual, I am nervous about status of DL prospects. Would be nice to have a year with several high quality DL recruits landed early, so we did not have to sweat that position so much.

I think one QB would be a good thing, even though we have so many young guys there now. More competition cannot be a bad thing.

I'd say only 1 tight end. Instead bring in a quarterback, but realize it's not a necessity with both Lanning and Hodge in the class before.

Eighteen scholarship seniors--count the guys on the schedule poster. Plus Dika's slot. Plus whatever inevitable attrition before next February. Matter of fact, I can think of a handful of redshirt juniors who may elect to graduate and move on...

    There's a reason I said "may".

And when I'm just speculating (although McCarney often did something like this--from his end), I'm not going to name anyone's names. That's not fair to the kids.

Class will have 20-25 players. They always do, no matter how many scholarships start out available.

So "may" these guys be disgruntled, burned out, being recruited over, or being nudged out?

Anything can happen. That's why it falls under the heading of "attrition".

For any of us to speculate on this would be a disservice to our program. People leave for various reasons as we all should know. Can we please just discuss potential recruits and their virtues in this recruiting thread?!
And stay the hell off my lawn!

I realized that we are just tough young men. Resilient, really, Morris adds. A lot of people probably would have tucked their tail and tried to make moves but this group stuck together. Everybody is on the same page and that really told me a lot about the type of season we can have.
