This is the trade that I hoped would not happen. I really wanted to keep Garza.

Yeah, but its a win-win move. Who knows if Garza wanted to re-sign anyways. Cubs get one of the best pitching prospects from Texas, plus an upgrade at 3B.

pretty decent haul. I wonder what changed though because from everything I've read the Cubs had medical questions on one of those players.

In my dream scenario, Garza signs back in Chicago at the end of his rental year.

Not an upgrade at 3B. Olt will just be a trade chip when we start buying. Can't forget Christian Villuaneva or Kris Bryant.

Not sure who the other two prospects we got are.

Good chance we resign him this offseason, too

That gets said after every trade and how often does it happen? Same talks happened when Dempster and Lilly got traded

I think it was known Dempster wasn't coming back when he wrote that long thank you letter.

At this point, its an upgrade. Olt was pretty awesome when he got called up last season. Struggled some this year, but Wrigley usually helps with hitters.

    Re: Garza to Rangers

So we got 4 players right? Olt, Edwards, another player, and also a player to be named later.

I doubt the player to be named later will be of significance but it's possible that third player is more than just a throw-in.

That is what Dave Kaplin is saying...but honestly, I usually go with the opposite of what Kap says.

It sounds like just 3 players, although some reports are saying 4. I would be shocked if it was 4.
