    FCS scheduling

This may sound minor, but I wish we would quit scheduling top-tier FCS teams like UNI and NDSU. I understand that back when we weren't any good, UNI would get people to the game, but aren't we past that point? NDSU has a team that could smoke some lower level FBS teams. We need an easy win. That's the point.
We should be playing Central Arkansas, Indiana State, Western Illinois type teams, in my opinion.

    Agreed.

UNI and NDSU are the wrong ones to be picking and puts ISU in an absolute no-win situation.

    Disagree...

ISU should not be worried about a single FCS team.

The terrible ones know they are terrible, and command a higher price tag because of it.

If we are losing to the UNI's and the NDSU's of the world, when we play 10 teams from power conferences every single season, then I'll burn my tickets CycloneErik-style.

    Re: FCS scheduling

we just played western illinois and it wasn't the beat down it should have been.

ISU logic tells us the minute we schedule a cupcake they will get some major benefactor to build them a great facility, their skills will rise, and then they become a top FCS team the year before we play them.

NOTE TO FCS SCHOOLS - if you suck now but want to get better schedule ISU in a few years.

I agree to some extent, but I think there is some value in a little more challenging game. Nothing like getting your confidence up beating a nobody only to walk into B12 play to get your bell rung.

I like having a decent test week 1. If you can't beat UNI, you are nowhere near where you need to be. It is a good gauge.

    Re: FCS scheduling

Yes wins are needed but what do you learn about your team when they win by 50 and your 3rd string is better than them? The fans leave the game way early and don't really get into them. Play someone you should beat but not blow out and learn something about your team. If you cannot beat a FCS team then you have more to worry about than going to a bowl game.

    Re: FCS scheduling

We shouldn't be playing any FCS team.

I have zero interest in watching Iowa State player a lower level team. Zero. The Western Illinois game last year was awful, though it did expose our offense.

    Re: FCS scheduling

FCS is a lot cheaper than going to a non-power 6 BCS school. When you have the smallest budget in the Big 12 you have to do what's economical. Additionally, we don't have to give up a home game to play against an FCS school. Give me UNI over another Tulsa situation where we can't afford/don't want to buy them out of their home game.

My heart agrees with you totally. But then I watch other schools laughing all the way to the bowl games. Remember we had a drought before the last 2 years.

    Re: FCS scheduling

BCS conference schools should not be allowed to schedule FCS teams in my opinion. Especially schools like Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio state, etc. Lower level schools should be allowed because for a lot of these schools, it might be there only win.
