Hornacek shares some thoughts on DG, Babb

Just a brief blog article I thought some might like to read. DG and Babb both did well in their game last night.

News Flash recruits: Fred Grooms Future NBA players!

"...In front of a fellow Iowa State alum in Hornacek, Babb finally got a chance to show another similarity between him and his head coach.

It’s not a good idea to leave them open.
Babb made Memphis pay for that mistake, sinking three 3-pointers in the second quarter to help the Suns take the lead for good...."

Sounds like DG and Babb really shined. I think DG will ultimately get picked up, unfortunately I don't Babb will but then again his shooting ability and defense should get him a spot.

Babb may not make it this year but he could be like DG and make it in the future.

The trend of the nba seems to be towards the 3. I would think that's a player that can hurt you from the 3 as well as defend it would be in demand.

Babb will be fine. If he doesn't make a roster he can always go over seas for a year or 2 and improve while getting paid much better than most college graduates.

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

Can't believe more people haven'tresponded to this post. How often do we have our coach turn down an NBA job (The Mayor) then read of Suns Coach Hornacek talking up two Iowa State players under his watch. NBA in your future?

If he develops a corner 3 point shot, and continues to guard well. There is a Bruce Bowen role out there for him somewhere.

It may take a bit of time, and he may have to see the world, but he can do it. His shooting has to get more consistent. He has to handle the ball a bit better as well

If Bruce Bowen can play 10+ years in the league, Babb can play 10+ years in the league. He just needs a chance.

Re: Hornacek shares some thoughts on DG, Babb

If Phx doesn't give him a chance I'd love to Chicago to give him a look. A defensive coach like Thibby would love the way he plays defense plus he can hit a shot or two. A couple of years ago the Bulls were starting Keith "freaking" Bogans. I think Babb is twice the player Bogans is.

Re: Hornacek shares some thoughts on DG, Babb

    After tonight's game:

    Matt Petersen@TheMattPetersen
Hornacek said he likes "bounce" Garrett has off the dribble, in pick-and-roll sets. Saw plenty of that last 2 games.

The Suns won again and remain undefeated. Babb had 11 points in about 16 minutes. Included 6 of 7 from free throw line and a timely 3. DG had 14 points in 17 minutes and 3 assists. Looked really smooth out there.

Re: Hornacek shares some thoughts on DG, Babb

Babb has the physique and length that can lead to success in the NBA. All he needs to now is sell his skills and abilities that all of us at Cyclone Nation know he has.

I was watching a clip of Jiri Hubalek playing an NBA summer league game (Also with the Suns, ironically) and this would have been years ago now, but he led all scorers (on a team that includes current NBA players) and grabbed about 8 rebounds in said game. Now I don't know what these coaches are looking for in summer games, and maybe Jiri caught fire in a bottle for just that one game, but if he never made the cut on an NBA team while putting up numbers like that, then I see the path to the NBA as a tremendous uphill battle for guys like Babb, Clyburn, Lucious. Even Craig Brackins hasn't cracked the league yet, and he was a first round pick once upon a time. I don't know what the credentials are to make the NBA, but it seems like a pretty exclusive group these days.
