    Vince Polakovic's German team

The NCAA just announced his suspension will be 24 games and be available in Feb. He's from San Francisco, but seems to be the same situation.

Wow, their Athletic Dept. statement sounds almost exactly like Pollard's about Lucca.

    Re: Vince Polakovic's German team

ok, so now what's the diff b/t this guy and Staiger? Is this not compelling evidence of NCAA inconsistencies with this rule? could this be used as ammunition for Staiger's cause? are we still waiting for a final appeal?

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

    Re: Vince Polakovic's German team

Could the difference be the number of games that they played for their respective teams?

    Re: Vince Polakovic's German team

My guess the difference in suspension length is the amount of time that the SF guy played with above necessary stipended players.

I would say this is probably right. LS most likely had more games under his belt.

    Re: Vince Polakovic's German team

San Francisco's Response: "We are very disappointed to learn the NCAA's student-athlete reinstatement staff has upheld this suspension of Vince Polakovic,'' San Francisco athletic director Debra Gore-Mann said. "We had hoped that the NCAA staff would share our belief that the right thing to do in this particular case was to set aside precedent and do what is in the best interest of the student-athlete. Unfortunately, they do not share our sentiment.''

ISU's Response: "We are very disappointed to learn the NCAA's student-athlete reinstatement staff has upheld the one-year suspension for Lucca Staiger,'' Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. "We had hoped that the NCAA staff would share our belief that the right thing to do in this particular case was to set aside precedent and do what is in the best interest of the student-athlete. Unfortunately, they do not share our sentiment.''

Either these schools are organizing their responses, or the journalists are mixing up quotes.

That's too close to be a coincidence. Well, at least someone other than us actually read JP's comments.

Or both schools consulted with the same outside legal firm. There are probably only a small number of firms that have expertise in dealing with the NCAA. It is quite common for consulting firms to provide recommended press releases.

In this case, they could have better earned their fee by showing a little creativity the 2nd time around. Jamie should consider asking for a rebate on the charges.

I'm confused...Did SF get this ruling from the committee we're currently appeal to or are they one step behind us?

    Re: Vince Polakovic's German team

Suspension for 24 games might as well be for a year unless you get into post season play and this guy could make a big difference. Unlikely if he hasn't been playing.
