There's a fine line between edgy and stupid, and they apparently don't know where it is.

Someone cue up "Last of the Famous International Playboys".

Honestly, when's the last decade that Rolling Stone actually mattered?

Rolling Stone also had Charles Manson on the cover but then again so did Life magazine.
But Life magazine is so old it also featured Hitler man of the year in 1930's.

I was just going to post this. When was Rolling Stone last relevant? MAYBE the 90s, they had some decent articles then, but more solidly the 70s.

Smells like desperation to sell a few more subscriptions. But it isn't far off from the way other forms of media have glamorized pieces of **** like this.

What a horrible decision by a once great magazine!! I'm sure John Lennon is rolling over in his grave.

Re: Rolling Stone Puts Boston Bomber on Cover

In one way, I think the concept of the story is interesting. How does a kid go from being a relatively normal, well-liked high school student to a cold blooded mass murderer? Also, every news organization in the country had a picture of this kid and his brother on the front page of their paper/website/etc. when the search was ongoing and at the time of the capture. It's not like RS is the first to show his picture and cover his story.

On the other hand, RS should have realized their cover is usually reserved for popular, iconic figures, and it is irresonpible to place this person in any type of positive light. I also don't doubt for a second that there are individuals who contemplate a plot similar to what this guy did and see the the fact that his face is still in magazines months later as encouragement. These people do these things for attention and for martydrom. Continuing to show their faces only furthers that.

I haven't read the story. Does it present him in a positive light?

I'm not saying the story does. I'm saying the cover of the Rolling Stone is a revered honor and simply by putting him on it I think it places him in a positive light.
