i'm glad we're finally in an ESPN tournament, but man, this field is an RPI killer. we have to win it.

Re: Diamond Head Classic bracket released

The field isn't THAT bad. Boise State is a tournament team, Saint Mary's is always going to be decent. Many are picking Oregon State to be a sleeper in the Pac-12. Akron is the MAC favorite. It's not a great field by any means but it isn't an RPI killer either.

I agree; if we are going to compete for a top 4 finish in the Big XII this year, we really have no business not winning that tournament.

Boise St probably is most likely to come out of the other half of the bracket. They will be a top 30-40 team next season.

This is exciting. My girlfriend goes to GMU, so that's going to be fun when we manhandle them. This tournament is terrible, though. Not any really good teams.

Speaking of this season, when will we know our non-con schedule? Isn't it usually sometime in August?

It's also early in the year when we tend to lose to a bad team.

Definitely not an RPI killer. As long as we win it all. Better than playing a bunch of 250+ teams at home like other teams in this state *cough* like to do.

It's during Christmas, so it's not that early.

Also, can we keep Iowa out of this thread?

Re: Diamond Head Classic bracket released

Boise State was playing really small at the end of last year. They have some fantastic shooters and are returning their best players. That would be a fantastic matchup. It's that an easy path to get there though, because Akron, George Mason, and Oregon State all apperar to be teams that could beat ISU on a bad day.

Yeah, if ISU wins the first 2 games, they're probably looking at two games versus the RPI Top 100, and one game versus RPI Top 50.

Re: Diamond Head Classic bracket released

Being the highest seed in the tournament puts the pressure on ISU to win, but it's also a great opportunity to go out and take care of business. 3 early wins against decent teams on ESPN over Christmas will be a great start to the season!
