The spirit lives on. He never missed the coverage and he is still guarding them from beyond.

Looks like he changed it. Did he have us still ranked last even when he thought we had Reeves?

It's gonna be a rough year if our secondary is guarding receivers from their couch with one hand in a bag of Doritos. No wonder ISU is ranked last in the conference. At least Ubben is consistent. We always know exactly what we are gonna get from him.

I know we're just ISU and nobody cares, but how does this clown stay employed? Even if he's just trolling us for trollolols, he's terrible at it.

I don't know, two threads with his name in the title in two days, seems he's doing a fine job of trolling us.

And how does he stay employed? Online presence. The more we mention his name, the more he's worth to his employer. If he's so terrible and everyone knows it, why do so many people still follow the guy and post about his articles? I would think the best thing to do would be to just avoid him. If it weren't for this site, I'd have no idea who Ubben even was.

Agreed, it is not like his job became any harder with realignment, because he has two less teams to worry about.

I do find it interesting that a coach who was a former defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator would have the worst group of d backs in the league. They might be inexperienced, but I doubt they will be the worst performing group in the league.

Ubben pays as much attention to A&M as he does to any school in the Big 12.

Probably because he still works for espn. If he didn't work for them, I think he would fall of the radar for a lot of people even if he still covered the big 12. I generally don't even follow espn anymore or look there for Big 12 football news because of his misguided homerism for teams like Texas or Baylor.

It got harder when he picked up two new teams. Think about it, he had to permanently rank them in his mind by national perception and create brand new stock responses for each category/position/article so that he could use each feature forever and just plug in different names as time goes on. That is a lot of up front work he wouldn't have had to do if Mizzou and TAMU were still around. That is why he writes those extra articles on them...to get more mileage out of those stock articles and keep up the appearance he is doing a lot of work/research.

What a joke. I'd go as far as to say you could simply switch ISU and Baylor and we could call his article valid. But this is just blatant disrespect for Paul Rhoads and his program.

Baylor or Kansas will have the worst CB squad in the Big 12. It blows my mind that he thinks ISU could be worse than either of them, 2 defenses that gave up nearly 40 ppg last year.

Exactly Baylor may have the worst secondary in the country and they lost a couple starters I believe.

So basically he has to do more work year 1, then he can coast?

Exactly. Do you disagree? His feature articles are all systematic and predictable. He would have been coasting from the moment he took the reigns from Tim Griffin and built up his own stock if realignment didn't happen on his shift. Since he couldn't do that...I would argue that his job technically got harder than the expectations that have been set for that position (obviously not high praise...since he actually had to THINK one time on the job).

At this point I don't know if I am praising him or making fun of him...I think it is both. So just to get this straight: On one hand he is better than Tim Griffin (the master of coasting)...but on the other, he is so obviously systematic that he is just mailing these articles in.
