    Town Celebration names

Ankeny Summerfest going on this weekend and I just heard about Dumont's sandbaggin days and the Byron, IL turkey testicle festival. What are some other town celebration names and anything they are known for. My college buddies and I like to get together and hit up a few new ones every year.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Fort Dodge Frontier Days. Haven't been there for a while and probably with good reason.

In Highmore, SD, we have Old Settler Days.

Really? I lived there for two years in college and I can honestly say that I didn't know they even had one.

Is Ames still doing the festival for the stinky trees on main street? Can't remember what kind of trees, it was named after them.

It's a catholic church on the NW side, so depending on where you were...might not have heard of it, but it is kind of a big deal.

St Jude's Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I was on the SW side at Kirkwood for two years but I stayed in town and worked during the summer instead of going home so I'm surprised I never heard of it.

    Re: Town Celebration names

Muscatine used to have Great River Days. I don't know if they still do or not. That's where Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits swallowed a bug in mid-song.

    Burlington has Steamboat Days.

Mt. Pleasant, of course, has the Old Thresher's Reunion the 5 days up to, and including, Labor Day. But's it's really pretty much over by Monday.

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.
