    Royal Baby Watch

Is today the day? Will William leave his pregnant wife at home to go play polo?

Where were you when your wife went into labor?

I am surprised I saw this here before my sister in law posted something on FB.

Waiting game in London as royal baby watch continues - Video on TODAY.com

It is kinda interesting. Though I find some of the journalists' comments funny. "If she goes over two weeks then they will induce her" Um, that's really normal.

I do feel kinda bad for her though. It looks like a circus outside the hospital.

    Re: Royal Baby Watch

I think they say about 5-7% of babies are born on their due date (which is usually pretty subjective). That being said, 50% of my kids were born on their due dates.

I had to laugh about the part where she may be uncomfortable in the 80 degree heat wave. I was "heavily" pg during July and August in Iowa and had no issues with the heat and humidity. I know the heat affects some women differently, though.

With our first two babies, I went into labor late afternoon. Hubby was home and mowed the lawn before we headed into the hospital late evening. With our third, she had to be induced so headed to the hospital first thing in the morning on a Friday the 13th. With our fourth I went into labor during supper. I sent hubby to bed around 11pm or so so he could try to get some sleep. It was about 4am when I told him we should probably pack up and leave.

I laughed at the heat thing too. I saw that she's supposed be sequestered....not really sure what that all involves, but I would guess she does not have to be outside.

This is really a secret poll to see how many female members there are on CF, I just know it.

I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story.

Would I do something like that?

And William did go to his polo match and Kate went home to visit her parents.

    Re: Royal Baby Watch

Did she go to the hospital?

I was looking up information yesterday. Scary numbers for first time moms. Average of 15hrs labor, usually 20 or so....

Second child averages 8hrs. WOW!. It may differ for inducing. It obviously doesn't count for c-sections.

I don't really care even a little about the royal family, other than to wish them as well as I would any other new parents, but yes - first labors and first inductions last longer: When Labor is Induced

First babies are also more prone to going past the estimated due date, in general (barring certain circumstances, like young parents, smoking, etc.).

I'm a female member of CF but I've never understood the fascination Americans have of British royalty. Does every royal wedding and birth really need so much coverage?

Same here. I honestly don't get it - I'm not as interested in my own best friends' weddings and births as people seem to be about these royals. Even if the baby came out pooping diamonds, that's more just an inconvenient diaper change for them than a huge event in my life.

I took the day off just for this! Well not really but I'm going to get no work done today but I don't get much done of days that end in 'y' so it's kind of just a coincidence. I got the baby fever!

sounds like she's been admitted, yes. I'm excited for this, I am just fascinated with Will & Kate. I do wonder how they got in without all the media noticing, score for them!
