NUGGET: Something I've heard a lot of this summer....

Heard this from a few different people now...

That Bubu Palo hasn't only looked good in the CCL (as he always does so take that with a grain of salt), but he's playing extremely well in workouts too. Much better than years before. The thought of Bubu sneaking his way into the starting lineup wouldn't shock anybody. Should that happen, I see it looking like this:

    Bubu
    Kane
    Thomas
    Ejim
    Niang

Obviously I'm just tossing a few things around. Lots of time to go before tip-off.

I know a person on here who played against Bubu in pickup, he had other Cyclones on his team such as Dorsey-Walker, Niang, etc. Said Bubu was the best shooter in the game. It's pickup, but he's a better shooter than people realize.

He is a good shooter, but he seemed to pass up most shot opportunities last season. Reminded me a bit of Jacy Holloway. Maybe he hadn't quite gotten his full confidence back due to missing the early season.

It's Bubu's time to shine if he can. This is his last shot so better make it a good one. It would be really neat to see him play a key role in the starting lineup next year!!

If you take away first base, they'll just go find a new ballpark to play in.

This thread makes me smile. I would like nothing better than to see the walk on end up starting his senior year -- and starting because he is good, not because his competition is bad.

I get the feeling that Fred may go deeper into the bench with regular minutes this year than he did in previous years. If he can find a little depth in the post this team could be lethal with prudent use of a variety of presses; defense to find easy offense.

Well if that were to be the case, I hope the nearest Wine & Spirits keeps their rum thoroughly stocked.

The biggest thing I'd like to see with Bubu is better decision making on the offensive end. There were alot of times he would pass up an open shot only to drive into the lane and force a contested shot. He either needs to be more confident in his jumpshot, or find an open player on the permitter if he drives.

I'm certainly not one of those guys who knocks him down a few pegs automatically because he was a walk on (but they are here). It's not beyond the realm of possibility that a guy might improve dramatically over the course of his career, or even over the course of an off season.

Wasn't Kane pretty much promised to play PG, which is why he came here in the first place.

I think he can play a couple of positions.

I thought his sophomore year he was really improving and was looking for him to have a good year last year. I think all that time gone last year hurt him. I think he will have a very solid senior season.

we've never seen bubu get the benefit of a full healthy season. he had mono, a broken wrist, and then a court case. i hope he gets some better luck his senior year.

I feel like a lot of people are judging him too much by last season, I really doubt we ever saw Bubu really hit his stride last year. If I remember right he wasn't allowed to practice with the team until the the case was thrown out.

If he is impressive enough in practice to start Fred has to be salivating at all the options he has for line ups.

So, we're going to pull his scholarship and then possibly have him start. I like it, good moves by the mayor. Keeps everyone on their toes.
