    2013 All-Iowa Team

Here is how I see it:

    QB-Sam Richardson, for experience only
RB-White/Nealy/Weisman (toss up here even without Wimberley)
    WR-Bundrage
    WR-Manly
    TE-Fiedorowicz
    TE-Brun
    LT-Scherff
    LG-Tuftee
    C-Farniok
    RG-Donnal
    RT-Gannon

DE-Alvis/Scott this is a toss up to me
    DT-Cooper
    DT-Davis
    DE-Irving
    OLB-Kirksey
    MLB-George
    WLB-Hitchens
    CB-Lowry
    CB-Watson
    SS-Broomfield
    FS-Washington

    Punter-Van Der Kamp
    Kicker-Meyer

Tough to say we'd have 3 of the 5 OL. Is Blythe supposed to be pretty good for them on the line this year?

James Morris for iowa would definitely start and I think weisman would be better than white and nealy at this point.

How terrible are their defensive ends that ours are better? Especially Irving...he's tall and that's about it.

Morris over George is an easy pick.

That would be a wicked set of tight ends to have on the field together.

I also don't know that Tuftee should be up there. Kid can't stay healthy long enough to be effective.

I am not a big Morris fan, seems slow and is never in good position against the pass. I think George will be a first team all Big 12 linebacker this year.

I think Coe is going to tear it up this year.

Best Running Back in the state is David Johnson at UNI. Early favorite to win the Walter Payton Award (FCS Heisman)

Unless Steele is throwing it right to him.

    Re: 2013 All-Iowa Team

Holy crap, a Fiedorowicz/Brun TE combo would be awesome. All in all, list looks pretty good to me. I wouldn't see Weisman getting many carries with ISU's stable, but would probably be used for Woody-type situations.

Agreed. Morris has been a big let down in my opinion. He can't get off an OL block, too small to play the middle. George seems solid, though pretty undersized as well. He has less name value than Morris just because he's been in the shadow of two studs for years, and Morris has been the starter-by-necessity since his freshman year.

I do think you're slighting the Iowa OL though. Blythe was a Scout.com and FWAA freshman all-american. No way he doesn't belong in there either at G or C.

    Re: 2013 All-Iowa Team

Who's offense are we using? In a pro-style I could see Weisman getting the bulk of the carries. In a pistol or shotgun spread I would have one of ISU's smaller, speedier backs. However, Weisman had some GIGANTIC holes to run through on many of his carries last year, so who knows, maybe a guy like White/Johnson/Nealy would run for a grip of yards too. Weisman put up good numbers last year, but certainly had the better run-blocking offense. Hell, in a pro-style I may even take Woody over Weisman considering we have not seen what an ISU running back can do in a non zone-read style.

Absolutely agree with you on Blythe, rock solid at guard for sure. But he is switching to center this season and I agree with many the Farniok is pro potential too. Ill take experience at the toughest position on the oline but again the sky is the limit for Blythe. I think oline will be solid for both teams, maybe the best in years, so it's toss up everywhere.

    Re: 2013 All-Iowa Team

That team would get smoked by the likes of tOSU, Oklahoma and maybe be competitive against Nebraska, Michigan, Wisky, OkSU, maybe even Texas....... idk about you guys but each team will be luck to be 6-6 this year. The DL on both teams are very unproven and lack pass rush...... I would think Morris would make it but he has been a disappointment for sure. I would rather see Alston start at ILB for Iowa this year. I also want our True freshman QB Shimonek or the JUCO Sokol to be the guy under center but Richardson is better than anyone and he took his lumps last year...... DO NOT EVER put a Hawk RB in the discussion again. Weisman will probably break his leg now because of this.

The scary thing is even when you combine the best players from each team for every position, the end product is not a great team by any means.

Well than I guess we have slim to no chance to beat UNI.. that's a bummer.
