    Matt Thomas

I'm becoming more and more excited about potentially having another Jake Sullivan on the court this year. I've heard time and time again how silky smooth his shot is, his consistency, and motivation to win. Is this Jake Sullivan comparison accurate? What expectations can we have for probably our top recruit?

He is both taller and more athletic than Jake. I would say probably a better passer, too. I'm not sure he will be the shooter Jake was as a freshman though.

Our last top recruit worked out pretty well. I'm expecting some solid freshman production from him

He's more like a taller Scotty, or a less dreamy FH

    Re: Matt Thomas

I have actually heard more Mayor comparisons.. Now I do not want to put that type of pressure on the kid but if he can be anywhere close to him.. then holy crap!!!

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I'm not a fan of the hoiberg comparisons. Freddy was a high school power forward who was not a good ball handler and struggled from three his first two years of college. He was an amazing all-around player, however, and obvioulsy turned himself into a great shooter.

I bet Thomas makes more threes in the non conference season this year than hoiberg did in his entire first two years combined.

Man, you like to go against the grain huh? A "walk-on"?? OK bud. I agree, Matt Thomas and Jake Sullivan are nothing alike except for their skin color, but come on dude.

Wow, that is a pretty bold prediction 36 threes or more in a true freshmen's first dozen games or so? We don't even know how many minutes he is going to get and you are predicting about a 3 threes per game average.

Jake could shoot the heck out of the ball. Not sure what else he could do though...

MT has a much better all around game for sure.

I kind of hope this is missing a jimlad, because that's not an insane prediction to make. Even if he doesn't start, I would figure he will play a good chunk of minutes for most of the non-con. 3 per game is not a huge number, especially with the 4-out offense.

Honestly he probably will start, depending on SDW

    Re: Matt Thomas

People have short memory when it comes to Jake Sullivan and label him as just a shooter. While Jake wasn't too athletic, and lacked size, he was still a good all around offensive player. You don't get to the free throw line 400 times in your career being just a shooter.
