    Barney may have a job

On Lincoln TV tonight, the lead story was about Pelini. THE top story in the whole state! I know pretty sad.

But there was some humor in it about the new coaching staff. On D side (Pelini will call the D plays) will be Marvin Sanders, which was a given for quite awhile.

And.... And... Barney Cotton may be hired on the O side

Quite a change from Callahan to Barney Ball

Barney is a great fit at nebraska...They too can have plays that every single person in the stadium knows is coming.

He was liked last time around in Nebraska. He coaches power football that is liked in Nebraska. Nebraska fans dont care if they know what is coming as long as they win. His style of FB will work if you have the athletes to make it work.

I think we saw against Mizzou in 06 what Barney could do when allowed to run his own style of offense. He was shackled by Dan and forced to run someone else's offense.

Seriously where do some of you people come up with this stuff?!?!?!

I was with ISU for 5 years, saw 3 O-coords and not once did I see or hear coach Mac call a play or trump the O-coord's call. The O-coord's called all plays to their liking based on the game plans the whole Offensive staff came up with.

I think I tend to believe him since he PLAYED for Mac.

My sources say that Mac never really had any other coaches, but did everything himself. Everyone else was there just in case his first plan failed, so they could be fired when he decided he needed a scapegoat.

Well, Barney wouldn't be O coordinator would he...just o-line coach. Anyway, what is the big deal about it being THE top story...I only wish ISU got that kind of press. Believe me whenever Iowa hires a new coach it will be at the top of every news feed in the state.

My sources tell me if it wasn't for all his assistants holding him back Mac would have at least 4 national titles. Now he is biding his time until USC or Texas or Notre Dame opens up to prove to the world he is the greatest.

Re: Barney may have a job

Fans who blame the assistants are just silly. Are they really asserting that as head coach, he has nothing to say about what his assistants do -

Personally, I don't CARE who the assistants are; the head coach is IN CHARGE and responsible for EVERYTHING that happens on the field.
