Those 3 hit their ceilings already, much like Iowa seniors Devyn Marble and Melsahn Basabe did. I think a lot of Iowa's potential success comes down to the impact Jok/more so Uthoff, have on the offensive side of the ball. Otherwise, this is the same poor shooting, unathletic team that somehow beat an un-motivated Cyclone squad a year ago. Iowa State is still the better team, even on paper, in my book. Look for a 9-15 point win IMO.
I like your confidence but thats pretty arrogant and ignorant. Listen, I dont like Iowa either but to say that their players wont progress in the offseason is silly. Marble is a good player, white is a good player and Gessel is very talented for how young he is. I was not too impressed with Woodbury but I think he could be a good player by the time he is a junior. McCabe isn't that great but he plays very hard, similar to Ejim he does a ton of dirty work (I think Ejim is way way more talented though, similar motors though). Iowa will be a good team next year, and will make the NCAA tourney.

Take away Aaron White's dribbling, he DONE. If somehow teams can keep Aaron White out of the post he won't do crap.

That's the success I like to see out of Fran, solid NIT team. Just like the success I've seen from Ferntz this past season.

ISU by 10. Iowa is never in the game the 2nd half. I can't believe people here are believing the Iowa hype. At home, no way ISU loses.

The likely (my guess) lineups and rotations:

Kane vs Gessel - ISU Toss up.
Thomas vs Marble - Iowa (experience... I like Thomas in the end)AGREE, at this point in the season.
Hogue vs Uthoff - Iowa (just a gut feeling - I think Uthoff will have a big year) Uthoff better offensively, Hogue a better rebounder and defender.
Ejim vs White - ISU (really, really close. I'm sure Iowa fans will freak seeing this) AGREE but less close.
Niang vs Woodbury - ISU (sort of an apples/ oranges comparison, but I'll take Niang's "do everything" game to AW's perceived defense). AGREE, I don't see the Wood being much more effective offensively and watching him guard Niang defensively could be comical.

Starting lineups - slight edge to ISU. Remember the game is early in the year, and a guy like Thomas may still be getting a feel for D1 competition. Marble has good length to guard him with, he can score in a variety of ways - If I'm Iowa I'm going AT Thomas with Marble, and testing his D. Kane should be able to best Gesell.... but thinking as I type, maybe I have Kane guard Marble when Iowa has the possession, and maybe Iowa will opt to keep that matchup on the other end. Uthoff at the SF will make Iowa a really tall team. Hogue and Uthoff would be seeing D1 competition for the first time as well. I don't see any way we put Thomas on Marble with Kane and Hogue on the team, if these were the starting line ups of course.

    Rotation matchups:
Palo/ Morris vs Clemmons - ISU (close) I don't consider this close.
Bluford/ SDW/ Long vs Oglesby/ Jok - ISU all day long. I like Jok to be able to sink some 3s if he's left open, but until I see him get to the rim, and play defense at D1, I'll pick against him. Oglesby... he does one thing... so don't let him do it. AGREE.
Edozie/ Gibson vs. Basabe/ Olaseni/ McCabe - Iowa (If Iowa bench bigs are awake, I like them here, agains until I see Gibson do anything besides "go left" and see Edozie at all. If it's a WWE match - I'd take Edozie - he looks huge). AGREE, no brainer here.

White is not a good dribbler or one-on-one player. He gets his points on fast breaks, steals, and putbacks. He hangs out in the short corner and waits for dump-offs. He also looks to pick off ball reversals for easy dunks. I'm amazed he has success with that strategy, but he is a smart player. I would love to see the first play be a fake ball reversal to Ejim, back pick, and alley-oop. White loves to gamble and Fred has run similar plays to start the game or half.

Pretty spot on. I would also add that he gets o the free throw line a ton. Very high basketball IQ, but doesn't have the strength to play with his back to the basket, nor does he have the lateral quickness to play the three. I will say if he can develop a perimeter jump shot, he will be tough to defend- he can take most 4's of the dribble. Should be a good game but I like Iowa's experience, defense, and size to win out in the end.

Though I think Ejim is better than White, White did Ejim dirty last year. He didn't really have an answer for white in that game.

White also loves to force up anything and pray he gets fouled. Makes his living at the line.

Iowa will be good but you don't waltz into HILTON MAGIC and expect a wuuuu. When that place gets to rockin, the Iowa players won't know how to handle it. There mothers always told them that if the double wides a rockin, don't come a knockin
