    Anyone else see WV jumping leagues?

    It is only matter of a few years before the BIG 10 raids the ACC for another TV market, and when an ACC slot is available, WV is gone. A couple of years ago with the old Big East collapsing, WV was stuck without a place to play and they landed in the Big Xll by default.

    The Big Xll has made it clear they do not want to expand (and split the money with more teams)-. But, WV, all alone on an island, and with no Eastern brand teams on their schedule--THIS is not what they want to hear.West Virginia Mountaineers, Virginia Tech Hokies to resume rivalry in 2021 - ESPN

    I don't think this is true. I think what is more likely is (as the OP stated) the Big 10 will raid the ACC and at that point the Big 12 will add some of the pieces that are left. The only way I see WV leaving is if the Big 10 or SEC came knocking, and both of those I think are unlikely. Big 12 teams make comparable money right now because they only split it 10 ways so there is no hurry to add new teams until they have to (i.e. next round of expansion by another league).

    A lot of stuff change change in the span of a few years so worrying about what WV MIGHT do in 10 years seems a bit paranoid...

    Way too expensive from them and whatever future league they might join to leave for at least the term of the grant of rights.


    NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

    The GORs protect the ACC and the B12. The B1G can only raid the AAC (and who would want to do that?) or the SEC (and no one would leave). Conference realignment, at least at the top level, will cool off for a while now.

    I still think some kind of "joint venture" between ACC and Big12 would make sense. Maybe swap a couple teams and then have some inter-league game agreements. You do not always have to buy, sometimes you can partner.

    GOR will keep people from leaving. No one is going to risk leaving a league without a guarantee they can defeat GOR. And right now there is nothing close to a guarantee that GOR can be defeated. Plus Big Ten would not want to pull someone out of a league with GOR because it would invalidate their own GOR.

    IF the Big 10 were to get ACC teams, and thats a big if, then yes I would be worried about WV leaving.

    Since both conferences have a GOR, it wouldnt hurt WV at all to go to the ACC. Lets say, for example, North Carolina leaves the ACC (I don't see it happening, but lets pretend). The ACC gets to keep NC's money. WV could just go over to the ACC and take NC's share, and give their share to the Big 12.

    Maybe we can do a three way trade with the SEC, ACC and Big 12. Big 12 get Arkansas, SEC gets Miami, and ACC gets WV.
