Courtney Messingham: The right man for the job?

After a dismal season at the quarterback position last year, is Courtney Messingham the right man to coach the quarterbacks. Granted Sam Richardson did show a glimmer of hope at the end of the season, but I do recall Jared Barnett throwing 7 balls IN A ROW in the dirt at the end of the Kansas game. Don't even get me started about Steele Jantz either. I do believe that the pistol will help utilize all the players, but can we trust a quarterbacks coach with highly touted receivers coming in that hasn't proven he has a hold on our quarterbacks? I may be completely wrong; I just don't want to see possibly the best recruit/player Iowa State has ever had struggle because his quarterback lacks the skills needed. I do see potential in Sam Richardson, but that is all we can see right now.

I'm going to go out on a limb here:

We have a QB better than Jantz and Barnett, hence Barnett transferring.

Secondly, Mess was not coaching them to throw balls in the dirt.

That would sure be some silly coaching.

Actually it'd be brilliant. The defense would not be prepared for that strategy.

Did you just link a thread to itself? Right now, half of CycloneFanatic is stuck in that loop. They may never get out.

Its crazy to think it took til the KU game for Same to become enough better than both JB and SJ to actually step on the field. I hope he is head an shoulders better. With how truly pathetic and inept SJ and JB were, it shouldnt have taken a whole lot to beat them out.

    Im glad he eventually did.
