    Police shoot dog

    Warning, this is graphic.

Police shoot and kill Rottweiler in the street when the dog runs over to owner being arrested for obstruction of justice | Mail Online

What do you think? Was it justified?

My opinion, the police did not need to shoot the dog, but the root cause is the idiot owner being where he wasn't supposed to be.

    Re: Police shoot dog

Dont think that needed to happen at all. Agreed, the owner should have just left or turned his music down, but damn that was sad.

His lawsuit should go through. They killed his innocent dog, the dog didnt look to me like he was attacking anything.

    Re: Police shoot dog

Just another example of cops acting like they can do whatever they want. Why people don't have the right to film police officers in public is obsurd.

This must have been the first time the police officer was around a dog. ...

    Re: Police shoot dog

I saw this making the rounds on facebook with a lot of debate.

Why was the guy hand cuffed in the first place?
I wish before shooting the dog, they would have had to owner try to calm it down.
If I put myself in the cops position, I probably would have shot the dog too. It did lunge at one of the officers and it seemed like they really didn't want to shoot it, but did once it lunged at them. Those officers didn't know if the dog was being friendly, mean, up to date on shots, etc.
A lot of things could/should have gone differently and the dog isn't dead.

I saw no aggression from the dog at any moment there.

'I know it's the dog's master, and more than likely not going to attack him, (but) we've got a guy handcuffed that's kind of defenseless. We have a duty to defend him too,' Swain said.

    Re: Police shoot dog

My main problem with what the cops did was that shooting was the first response. Seems very dangerous to have police with that attitude. If you feel threatened get out your club and try knocking the thing out first.

Again though, if that moron owner would not be an idiot and just do what he was told and left the scene the dog would be alive. Basically the dog paid the price for its owner being a dumb ***.

I get what you're trying to say, but no, do not keep the windows rolled up while you have your dog in the car. Especially in the Summer!

I think he meant rolled up far enough that the dog can't get out.

    Re: Police shoot dog

This is BS. If he felt threatened why didn't he shoot the dog on the initial lunge, this cop was scared and just fired, no different than a young kid who feels threatened when cornered. This cop is no different than a 15 year old kid from the streets that happens to have a gun and starts shooting when he is threatened. I back cops because they are needed, but why is the guy handcuffed, also, it is a dog, don't be a *****. Grab the leash, stay calm, the cop should have acted more responsible. You don't have a right to kill because you are scared, you have multiple cops around you, you won't die from a dog bite. That guy needs his gun removed and be on traffic duty for the rest of his career.

Quote from imported_blubberhawk on HN after ISU beatdown of Iowa in Carver '14

"When you lose to a fricking joke of a program like ISU, you get what you deserve. That game is a perfect illustration of why our head coach should be retired.
In defense of the Big ten network, it is tough to find Iowa games anymore when we aren't embarrassed."
