I really like Culvers too but I don't fan over it because it's always there for me now.

I hear raves about Chick-fil-a all the time. Just as an FYI, there are plenty of Chick-fil-a's down here in Houston and they all do very good business.

Right...and so do pretty much all McDonald's, Burger King's, Wendy's, Culvers, etc. There are tons of Chick Fil A's in the south, that's where they started. And I'm sure there are lots of raves. My point is that the level of raves and 'this is the best ever!' type comments decline when you start getting them more prevalent and have much more access to it.

Eh, disagree. We've had the chick fil a for long enough for novelty to wear off in wdm, and really there is no fast food chicken sandwiches that compare to chick fil a. Wendy's might be the only one that comes close.

Plus the service level at chick fil a blows the others out of the water.

IMO, Jack-in-the-Box has a "high end" (as much as a there can be a "high end" at a fast food place) chicken sandwich that is equal to anything Chick-fil-A has. Also, Jack's high-end angus and sirloin burgers are pretty good for the price. The other stuff at Jack is a little sketchy, except for the breakfast stuff.

I guess I'm another one that doesn't exactly understand the hype over Chick-fil-A's food. It's good for fast food fare, but nothing that would demand my undying loyalty.

You won't see the novelty wear off until there becomes more and more. There are what, two now in Des Moines? Still a novelty. They may be loved and what many consider the best option, but my point is that say in a market where there are already many locations, you would not see a thread on this board started saying how awesome is another one is opening up...because there are already a number of them there and the newness is gone. I am not saying their food is bad at all or that they aren't better than some or a lot of fast food places. I am just saying people won't be posting 'oh my god XXXX is opening in town!' when more start popping up because it becomes so readily available.

Ahh Jack in the Box. I also lived close to one of those in California. I liked their food a lot actually for fast food.

I have never had Chick-fil-a. This is something I'm very ashamed of.

Re: Chick-fil-A is coming to Ankeny!

Chick-fil-a grew a lot on me while I was interning in Kentucky. It didn't seem like anything special at first. The breakfast is outstanding, and the deluxe sandwiches are delicious.

That said, I'd be much more excited if Zaxby's would ever venture this direction. That Zax sauce - out of this world good.

    Zaxbys is pretty good stuff.

    I find Chick-fil-a pretty meh.

Re: Chick-fil-A is coming to Ankeny!

I have my suspicions that a few of the fried chicken chains have looked at Des Moines demographics and concluded that the city is not "urban" enough for a franchise. Not Chik Fil-A or Zaxby's, but some of the other chicken and biscuits places.
