    Need a stats geek: CCL

We need someone, like a Kirk Haaland type, to take all the summer CCL stats at the tourneymachine website and compile the other interesting stats, in particular I'm interested in shooting percentage overall and 3-pt shooting percentage. And if Chris or someone wanted to post the season stats for all ISU players (not just the top 5 overall), that would be pretty cool too.

I guess I'm not motivated to do it myself, but I'll readily and gladly look through it if someone else does it.

I was thinking about taking the stats at the end of the season and doing some of this, particularly eFG%, OR%, DR%, TO%, and A%. Can't really do any per minute stats since playing time doesn't seem to be recorded.

I think I saw a link below the top 5 that says "View All" or something like that.

Re: Need a stats geek: CCL

I would really like to know the batting averages of my son's T-Ball team, but I'm too busy screaming at the kids to run the right way around the bases or quit picking dandelions in the outfield. Would one you be able to come to the games and take stats? I need to know if my kid has a future or if we should go to another sport now. I don't want to get too far behind the 8 ball. I wish I could do it myself but someone's gotta yell at those kids.

Re: Need a stats geek: CCL

So curiosity got the better of me. No color/sorting on the image, but I've attached an xls if you want to look more carefully. Note that for the "iffy stats," I've had to assume that the players played 100% of the minutes in games where they recorded any stat, simply because none of the stat sources for the league provide minutes. Otherwise, all the stats follow KenPom's advanced metrics: the kenpom.com blog

    Interesting notes:
Palo may be the best defensive rebounder so far in the CCL, grabbing 22% of available defensive rebounds.
Palo has also assisted on a quarter of his team's made field goals.
Niang takes the highest percentage of his team's shots at 36%.
Morris has the highest eFG% at a whopping 70%.
Bluford has yet to record a turnover, so his A/TO should really be inf (but I set it to his total assists, 11).
Edozie tops big man defense with the best blocking percentage, while the best guard defender may actually be Thomas with 2 steals per foul and the highest steal percentage. Houge is not far off in steal percentage, but gives up more fouls.
Don't forget, Nader's stats only encompass two games.

I think it would be more interesting to look at the years past players stats and compare how they performed during the season.

Lucky for you, I have already been doing this.
    Team average is .258
Your son is batting .266 (though I was a bit generous giving him a hit on one occasion....it could have been ruled an error).
    His WAR rate is 3.6

Re: Need a stats geek: CCL

Speaking of stats, I was thinking as I was sitting watching the CCL that an app for keeping basketball stats at a game would be pretty easy to make and kind of interesting for games a person was sort of interested in watching, but didn't really care too much about. Is there some sort of 'keep it yourself' stat app?

The correlation would be somewhere around 0 if I had to bet.

Just bring a note pad? I feel like that would be way easier than entering stats on an app. I did it one game and it was breeze just using a note pad.

Batting average? Child, please! You're not noting the fact that his son has crazy low BABIP. He's clearly been hitting into some bad luck & is due for a massive breakout. Add in the fact that he's got the best ISO on the team & I'd argue that his son has been the best hitter on the team even with a .266 average.
