Utah Utes, Illinois Illini. The University of Pennsylvania thought about following this pattern by calling themselves the Pennsylvania Pencils. However, they were afraid their students would start chanting "We're No. 2"

Naz's only problem is that he played last year. If he would have redshirted then everyone would be talking about how great he was going to be and how the staff must really like him bc they redshirted him and every performance in the CCL would just add fuel to the fire. And the fact that he has the highest scoring average in CCL meant he would be our best guard etc.

If Naz can combine the defense he showed last year in CCL with the offense he is showing this year, then he will see lots of minutes. I could see him taking a Babb-like role in which he focuses on defense, but can also turn it loose on offense.

This is actually a really good point.

But Kane has played a lot of PG in his career. And he is a senior with 3 years of NCAA D. I experience. I'm not sure if Naz was recruited to be a 1 or a 2, but I have heard several people on here say that he can do both, but is probably a more natural 2. Given his size, he is bigger than pretty much every guard on the team, so the way I see it, he probably plays more at the 2 this year by default. Then of course, factor in that PG is fairly deep position as well, with Bubu, Morris and Kane. Perhaps he sees minutes at both positions? Who honestly knows?

I just don't see Naz being anymore than a 5 to 10 minute per game guy this year..kane, thomas, and bubu are all locks to play in front of him..and in all likelyhood so will morris bluford and SDW.. I like Naz and think he could be a contributor, but he will not play more than 10 mpg in this crowded backcourt. It just won't happen.

It's not a stretch to say Naz will get minutes but to say he is going to start just doesn't make any sense whichever way you spin it. I like him and his game and can see him as a solid role player off the bench and get 5-10 mpg but there's no chance he's starting

Even at the beginning of the season? How is assuming/predicting Naz starts at the 2 any different than those who thought Bubu would start at the 1 (before Kane signed)?

I don't agree. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Because Bubu played last year and Naz didn't.

Well, he did play actually. But I'll drop this argument, as it is pointless to quarrel over who is going to start out of the 20 guards on this team

Count me in your court of thinking. Too much leadership there to sit on the bench for all but 5-10 mpg, not to mention the other skills he brings to the table. Last year=poor sample of what he is capable of IMO.

I think Naz or Hogue will almost always be on the floor for defensive reasons. We have a deep young versatile lineup.. Their playing time will depend on the opponent, flow of the game, and who's hot.

You'll have to work a lot harder than that before you prove that something good can come out of Nazareth.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
