Baylor Planning for Farewell Season in Floyd Casey Stadium

Baylor Planning for Farewell Season in Floyd Casey Stadium - Baylor Bears Official Athletic Site - BaylorBears.com

WACO, Texas -- The Baylor athletics department is making plans to send historic Floyd Casey Stadium out in style. "The Case," as it is affectionately known, will host the Bears football program for the 64th and final season in 2013, before making way for the brand-new riverfront Baylor Stadium located on campus along the Brazos River that will open in August 2014.
Baylor will utilize its seven home games in 2013 to celebrate the stadium, highlighted by player reunions surrounding each game (except Nov. 7 Thursday night game vs. Oklahoma) that will correspond to each of six decades in which the Bears have called Floyd Casey home.

    Aug. 31 Wofford (6:30 p.m., FSN) honoring 2000s

Starting on August 31st with the home opener against Wofford, Baylor will honor the decade of the 2000s. In 2004, a large tarp was installed that covers the South end zone seating and can be removed when ticket demand necessitates it. For the game against Wofford, the stadium will display a "throwback" tarp that looks just like it did back in 2004.

    "The Tarp" in 2004.

    "The Tarp in 2013"

Memorable moments will be published in gameday programs from legendary Dave Campbell, as well as current Baylor athletics historian Jerry Hill.

Additional activities and information will be released later this summer.

Baylor fans mostly suck but they have a few very rich alumni that will do anything to keep Baylor relevant out of fear Baylor will be left behind someday should the Big 12 implode. Texas is undergoing another oil and gas money binge thanks to fracking. Thanks to PUF, UT and A&M reap direct royalty benefit. However, the principals and petroleum engineers doing the work and taking the risks in this boom are mostly Tech and TCU alumni. Baylor is benefitting to a lesser extent. Interesting times.

This. They have a tarp...we spill onto hillsides because there aren't enough physical seats to hold all 55K+ @ Jack Trice.

Big-time programs make sure to recognize their historic tarps.

Its only 55k if you add the hillsides. Nothing is spilling over. Bit we would fill up Floyd Casey Stadium just fine.

Will they send out the stadium in style by covering the entire seating with tarps for the last game?

Better yet, they could form the tarp into a parachute and have it parachute in at the beginning of the last game. It would be a nice tribute.

The fact that we have to have people sitting on the hillsides is the very definition of "spilling over". We have about 45,000 real seats and about 12,000 SRO.

Exactly. ISU could of bowled in JTS and waited on the facility, but that would of been foolish. The south end zone will be bowled in at some point. Regardless, JTS will still be a better gameday environment then anything Baylor puts up.
