15 years since Mick Foley Vs. Undertaker Hell in a Cell

Actually it was 15 years yesterday. Arguably the greatest match of all time. In the words of Jim Ross, "Good god almighty!"

Not nearly the greatest match of all time, but some legendary moments.

Probably the most legendary bumps of all time. I think Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat would argue against greatest match of all time.

    .
Mick Foley, the most dangerous man in wrestling has sustained more injuries than possibly any other wrestler in the big companies, with the exception of ECW stars like Sabu etc. The most famous and prominent injury is the fact that he is missing an ear. Mick Foley, while performing as Cactus Jack in WCW, had a gimmick of being a complete madman, and so would tangle his neck between the middle and top ring ropes every night, choking himself half to death before releasing himself and having a good laugh. On one particular occasion though, in 1994, the ropes were tied far too tight and when Foley got caught in the ropes, he couldnt free himself. When the trainers came to the ring to free Foley, they pulled his head so hard that his right ear was ripped off in the process.

With retirement looming as a result of that physically demanding style, Foley penned his own memoir, ‘Have a Nice Day’ without the aid of a ghost-writer – writing 200,000 words in longhand in 50 days. The book showcased Foley’s paradoxical blend of wit and wisdom, wildness and warmth, and shocked the literary world by hitting number one on The New York Times best-seller list in October, 1999. The book remained on the Times list for twenty six weeks. A follow-up, 2001’s ‘Foley is Good’ hit number one on The New York Times list as well. Foley has published a total of ten books; four memoirs, four children’s books and two novels.

Not even sure if it's Foley's best match. His match with Rock was pretty crazy too, not to mention the matches he had in ECW tht few people have seen.

Since we are talking wrestling I figured I'd throw in that yours truly won 2 tickets to Monday Night Raw in DM this past week.

Wrestlemania 6 Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior was my favorite.

Flair-Steamboat has to be in the conversation for greatest matches.
Sixty minutes of mostly non-stop excitement and for an added bonus actually looked like a wrestling match for much of the time.

Mick Foley is tougher than a two dollar steak.

Shawn vs Taker was a better match IMO. Both are still great.

That I quit match was very good. Though if you've seen beyond the mat, it is pretty horrifying for Mick's kids to sit ring side through that.

The tragic Von Erich clan was involved in a lot of epic matches.
People in this neck of the woods may not of had access to many of them but they had a bunch.

Wasn't Mick so out of it after the match that he asked the Undertaker if he had used the tacks, and he's like "dude, your arm is full of them."

World Class was on ESPN for a while, so some of them got around.

    DUDE LOVE!!!

Mick was pretty much the only reason I watched WWF back in the late nineties. After he retired I lost interest. Loved his auto-biography (especially the shots at his friend, Al Snow).
