    heat wave to hit west

I'm sure this will end up in the cave at some point, but man how can anybody live in a place that can get to 130 degrees. I was in death valley at the NTC for national guard training in the early 00's when the temp broke 126 degrees, and man, that was just pure hell. It was so bad that you prayed for the wind to go away, because while you were in the shade the wind would blow the hot air into the shade and it was just as bad as being in the sun. It was like being next to a damn blast furnace. Oh, and at that high of a temp it doesn't matter if it's a dry heat, it is just miserable.

I understand your point, but in January they are saying "How can anybody live in a place that can get wind chills of 40 below?" about the upper midwest.

Yeah, well, I don't know how anyone could live in a place like San Diego where it's 72 degrees year round.............

    Never mind, yes I can.

And for the record, it's going to hit 86 during this heat wave in San Diego...can't understand what those poor people are going to do.......

San Diego; where weathermen go to retire - while still doing the weather!

It had been over a 100 everyday the last 2 weeks in El Paso. I didn't know my balls were capable of producing that much sweat.

I start worrying about Phoenix when it goes over 115. It hurts the border crossings.

There is a greater chance of dying, but you'll never get caught. None of the border patrol agents want to be out in that crap!

Re: heat wave to hit west

I remember going out to the Washington in the early 80's. The eastern part of that state is a desert and the temps were hitting 117 in the day. Talk about miserable.
And when anyone mentions the whole "dry heat" thing I just tell them that my oven is a dry heat and I have no desire to live in it.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

I would take the extreme cold over extreme hot any day of the week. You can always put on more clothes but you can only get so naked.

I personally would rather put up with the cold and snow! I can always put more layers on..... but can only take so much of. I find the heat oppressive..... not so much with the cold. To each their own.

Anybody ever experience the "prickly heats" before? I got a case of this when in death valley.... one of the most uncomfortable things ever..... and I've had my share of uncomfortable situations.

I'll stay here in the San Diego area and complain when it's over 85 and below 60.

Bad thing about our Santa Ana winds is they bring in that heat from the east and also stir up all kinds of allergy causing junk....and fires. Can't forget the fires

I'd rather be outside when it's 115 and no humidity, than when it's 90 and very humid.
