    Cap City League (Wed 6/27)

It is 10am on Thursday. CW, where is the report on Wed night's Cap City League?

Seriously, you've raised our expectations so that I come to the site looking for this stuff now.

Re: Cap City League (Wed 6/27)

Nothing too exciting. Morris, Thomas, and Walker are all very talented freshman who are going to be a lot of fun to watch. Morris vs Bubu was fun to watch. Morris is obviously more talented than Bubu. Bluford was lighting it up from three. Edozie looked a lot better. Reminds me a little of Leron Dendy. Percy played like a turd. Shot a bunch of threes and got rejected down low a few times by Edozie. Niang and Long were jawing at each other to the point where the ref had to tell them to stop. Some dude from DMACC was going all out against Niang and seemed to be trash talking him at the free throw line. Long scored like, the first 16 points of the last game. It was basically the ISU players vs. each other with the Drake guys making a few plays. The D3 players all looked like average Joe's from the rec center.

Well, dang, I scored four points by myself from the bench last night in my game.

Niang had 48 and dominated in the post but struggled from 3. A lot of his missed threes were when he was trying to create which really is t his game from outside.

Thomas had 44. He started out kind of cold the. Made 12 of his last 15 attempts to end the game. I expect him to start opening night.

SDW had 29. I was impressed with him. Did a good job attacking the rim and finding teammates. Thomas and him passed the ball really well and deserved to have a lot more assists than what they ended up with. Their teammates just couldn't finish.

Re: Cap City League (Wed 6/27)

I'm back to thinking the lineup will be:

    Kane
    Thomas
    Hogue
    Ejim
    Niang

SDW, MM, Bubu, Bluford, Gibson, Naz, Edozie off the bench

I would tend to agree with you. Best physical, defensive, get-to-the rim type group. Would also agree that it would appear to be a less effective 3-point shooting line-up than in the past, though.

Working on it now. The league has had problems recently of sending out stats. I just got them like an hour ago.

Yes, I agree. When you factor in Jon Rothstien's tweet about Hogue (he has to have a good inside source for ISU info), this is what I think we'll see as well.

That line up can play fast and up tempo, but they are 6'4", 6'4", 6'6", 6'6" and 6'7" so they won't get pushed around and will be able to defend and rebound in addition to exploiting offensive mismatches. This line up will force people to try to play small ball with us, and that will usually work in our favor.

This will almost certainly be the starting lineup. I don't think Bubu will see much playing time by the end of the year. I was very impressed with the freshman guards and also think Naz is going to jump Bubu on the bench this year. It's great to finally have depth at the 1 & 2 atleast it appears we do.

I also think the fans are going to love Hogue. I think he can definitely give us quality minutes at the 4. Ejim and him are going to be men on the glass!

Not complaining. Just having some fun by making you feel the grief of raised expectations! It is never good enough!

Edozie looked better? Good to hear, can somebody who has been to the games describe his style of play.

Anybody know Edozie's listed height and weight? He looks to be in the 6-8 range and has a Big 12 body.

Re: Cap City League (Wed 6/27)

I hope these games aren't an indicator of how Percy plays this coming season. I have heard that this isn't a league for big men, but his lack of effort is somewhat disheartening to hear. Still hoping he fills the potential he has and becomes a dominating big man in the Big 12.
