    Link?

7-6 isn't going to cut it with there. I think the fans are down on Holgorsen and he'll have to struggle to 8 or 9 wins, if not more, to make them happy.

Probably got a bump last season due to the new conference. But that being gone plus a bad finish to the season probably killed a lot of ticket sales. If we have the 3-4 win season that a lot of people are predicting I'd expect ours to drop next season as well.

    Re: WVU TICKET SALES

What is crazy is WVU's presense on national college football talk shows. I mean, you can't go more than a day or two without someone calling in for WVU or someone talking about them...yet, they pretty much have a smaller fanbase than ISU does. Certainly a much smaller season ticket base at this point.

I listen to College football radio shows almost daily, and have for 7 yrs, and I can probably count on one hand how many ISU calls I've heard.

    Strange....

I was surprised it wasn't more than that - that is why I posted.

Isn't so easy to be a fan when you aren't winning 10 games per year beating up on the sorry *** Big East.

    Re: WVU TICKET SALES

I figured Texas coming to Morgantown would move the needle.

I think there's some disappointment after last year's struggles.

WVU has a bigger national fanbase than ISU. Pretty much anywhere you have someone who left the state, they're a WVU fan. If you find a transplanted Iowan, they're probably a Hawk fan.

...which makes sense because Hawkeye fans and hillbillies are one in the same.

When your house is on wheels, it makes it easy to move around.

As for West Virginia, when you team isn't that good, people still turn out for rivalry games, border war games, or in-state games. WVU no longer has any of these.

The Big 12 not being 'new' along without the hype of Tavon Austin and Geno Smith has to hurt some.

WVU has the benefit similar to Nebraska and Mizzou w/ no other real in-state rival to split fans. I'm not surprised that ticket sales are down though as it's a much tougher conference, which means more losses for them, combined with a loss of pretty much every rival they've had in the old conference. This really needs to be something that each school considers before jumping conferences!

Remember, you're unique. Just like everyone else.

Until further notice, the Big 12 tournament is best. There's an experience here. Not just the teams -- the feel, the vibe, the establishments. Iowa State not only won the pregame -- filling the nearby Power & Light District -- it won the whole damn scene.

Tons of alumni in the DC area which helps to attract some attention to the football program. Close proximity to Pittsburgh as well, so even though their hardcore fan base may not be huge, there is a pretty easy bandwagon group to pull from.

Keep in mind that all of their historic rivals (Pitt, VA Tech, and Cuse) bailed on them. They had no real rivals left in the Big East. Not to mention the abortion that league has become.

They had no real choice but to bolt. They will develop rivals in the Big 12.

Their ticket sales drop off makes a lot of sense to me. Not every fan base responds to adversity that well.

I trust you Clones are doing well. Wish you and Tech fans had reasons to keep in touch during the off-season. I'm traveling with 3 other Texas Tech fans to Morgantown this season. Arriving a couple days early to do some fly fishing. Millions of Trout? Moonshine? Hillbillies? What could beat that?!?
