My thoughts as well. I keep trying to not get overly optimistic.
The good thing is that the offense can't get much worse than it has been for years...I hope.

Better weapons at receiver, IMO. Last year we had a whole bunch of guys that were decent players but didn't have the length outside of Bundrage. Our receivers still won't be the tallest this year, but I think some extra length will go a long way. Having Josh Lenz, Jarvis West, Chris Young, and Aaron Horne all on the field at the same time took away any chance at a jump ball.

We're in a lot of trouble if we're counting on jump balls unless we have Randy Moss from 10 years ago lining up at WR. Once we find a quarterback who can deliver the ball in the receiver's number on a slant/out/dig/etc. 80% of the time we'll see some improvement. The receivers weren't great last year but it sure didn't help having to field the ball off a short hop.

Jump ball was probably the wrong term to use, but ultimately that receiving core was a lot of short guys. They were only going to get passes down field if they had a good step on a corner. With some bigger receivers that won't be the case, and hopefully it will lead to better passing options.

I think you are on to something here. Horne, Lenz, and West are all basically the same little slot receiver - Welkeresque. I think it will make a difference having a big TE, and a tall fast WR (or two) to complement the quick little slot guys. Different threats for the QB to use and for the defense to worry about. Variety is the spice of life. Hopefully.

A step up from the headline the past 4 years: "Cyclones know the passing game is hopeless."

What I'm saying is.. at least there is hope.

OK, that's funny, but I wish there was a "hate" button.
