    Bevins' most likely replacement

As a head coach would say, I think it's time to move on and deal with the guys that are still Cyclones.

So, with that being said, who is most likely to replace Colin Bevins as a starting DT? I realize it probably won't matter much in our system because we shuffle guys in and out regularly, but who do you see starting at DT besides Brandon Jensen?

On the depth chart shown on cyclones.com Austin Krick and Pierre Aka are listed as Bevins' backup. Walter Woods is listed as the backup behind Jensen as the other DT. And then you will have guys like Coe coming in and competing as well.

But one guy I wouldn't count out either is Devlyn Cousin. I think Yancy specifically mentioned him as one of the hardest working kids in the weight room.

I think one thing is for certain though.... Coe will be a full time DT now. He's listed as a DE on cyclones.com, but with Bevins leaving, he will have to move inside IMO.

Coe will get a lot of PT this year, will be surprised if he's not one of the starters. Behind him it will be DT by committee.

an injury or two to our d-line would be devastating

Coe better get in the weight room. He was at about 275, however it wasn't all 'good' weight. Hopefully he can get up into the mid 280's and trim down some of the excess luggage he has been carrying around.

I pray to god we don't have any injuries at DT. Teams may run right through us if a couple guys go down!

True. Although, I already thought this was going to be the weakest position on the team.... and that was WITH Bevins.

If someone doesn't step up and play really well, we're going to get run right over against the run. We couldn't stop Tulsa last year. They ran all over us. And that was with McDonough and Laing in there too. Our DL has their work cut out for them. And the LBs behind them, as a group aren't nearly as good as last year either obviously, with Knott and Klein both gone.

The Burnham's are going to have to pull out a small miracle this year.

Coe is already listed at 305, so what exactly are you talking about. Agree it may not be great weight, but he is already past all your listings.

Hopefully that miracle is an offense that actually scores points and gives the D some help. It would be nice if the D just had to hold a team under 35 points instead of 23 points in order to win.

Me sad.... Coe is not ready to play a lot of serious minutes. Some people have unreal expectations of the guy.

Kind of a moot point now, ready or not he has to play. DT has to be the easiest position on the field to learn.

Yup he has blown up, I think this is a loss but with Coe having two years then you factor in Aka and Cousin we will be fine. The pipeline we have right now at IWCC is good and my buddy who follows them said ISU is in on their interior defensive line guys for next year and both are very good.

I would re-phrase that to "Coe CAN be good, no doubt in my mind".

I'm guessing he's going to get beat out this year by Krick, Aka, Cousin, or Woods. I actually wouldn't mind seeing him RS this year to get in shape, but I'm not sure with Bevins leaving if that will be possible?

I just have a feeling that the 25 lbs he's put on is probably not the best kind of weight. But the guy could be a complete beast if he is able to get in great shape. Think about it, he used to be a RB. I'm guessing he probably has really good feet for a DT. Is it Melton for the Bears that plays DT, but was a RB at Texas in college? This could be Coe, if he puts in the work. That's a big IF, though.
