    Bobby Lutz

Ran into him at the CWS and thanked him for his time at ISU. He said he would still be at Iowa State if it weren't for all of his family being in North Carolina and a perfect situation at NC State opening up---absolutely loved Ames! Also said that Hoiberg was the best basketball mind he'd ever worked with and can coach any type of player and get the most out of them. Cool story bro but when he said Hilton gets louder than anything in the ACC, I thought that was pretty cool. Just wish we could have had more talent when he was here but he will always be a great Cyclone.

That's not "cool story bro" territory at all. That's actually awesome information. I don't know why he would lie to you about Hoiberg or Hilton.

Probably not "Hilton" loud, but there were a few close games in Hilton when he was at ISU that would have been considered loud by many standards. But, nothing ear deafening like the last 2 years. He never really got a chance to experience true Hilton Magic.

    Re: Bobby Lutz

That year was exciting even though our record didn't end up as well as we played.

    I wasn't there, so I can't say.
But, was it Hilton level loud? Or, was it just loud? There's a difference.

We were excited, but not what Hilton is known for.

Thanks to the OP. This really is a cool and classy story.

I was there. It was loud but not Kansas/Baylor/Ok St loud from this year. It makes sense that it wasn't as loud that night though since it took us a few minutes of overtime to get over the shock that Nebby had taken us to OT at home. I think physicians call that point "hitting rock bottom."

Agreed. We didnt have a great record that year but i remember feeling like the fun was back in ISU basketball, and that the wins would come. And they certainly have.

    Re: Bobby Lutz

Nice story. It did kind of suck that we had to lose Bobby after just a year, but I am glad to hear he thinks Iowa STate is in good hands.

As far as how loud it was that first year, it was pretty loud. People were excited about Hoiberg being back and we played some close games at home. I'm not shocked that he thought it was loud. He probably overstated it some for his audience though.
