ISU Best in Big 12 in converting talent into NBA Picks (Emory Sports)

Good stuff! Why would a recruit want to go to another Big 12 school if given the choice?

    Per Twitter:

    Manish Tripathi
    @sportsmktprof

@CycloneMBB Emory Sports Mktg Analytics study finds Iowa State best in Big 12 at converting talent into NBA Picks: http://tiny.cc/1mdzyw

It is interesting to note that this study only goes up through 2011, so does not include all of CFH's time here.

I think this statement is true. While other schools send more to the NBA (Kansas) they do it with players who already have NBA talent instead of converting the players they have into NBA talent.

Add Royce and possibly Clyburn into the equation and the percentage probably looks even better.

Re: ISU Best in Big 12 in converting talent into NBA Picks (Emory Sports)

If you read the story, it is going off of recruiting classes. So for the six draft picks that they are counting for ISU, Wesley Johnson, Justin Hamilton, and Mike Taylor would all be included. Would Adam Haluska be on that list as well or was he recruited in 2001?

Royce and Clyburn would be included in Minnesota's and Utah's lists.

The stats are more a tell of a school's ability to judge talent, and less of a school's ability to mold recruits into NBA players.

    Nice article none the less.

Yeah if that article is in print, I'd have those conveniently located in the bathroom stalls, coffee tables, etc all over the practice facility!

I'm scratching my head on this. Who do we even have that's played 1 minute in the NBA? Diante and Tinsley? I guess you would probably count Royce, but I bet he never sees 1 minute of actual NBA action

This study was for 2002 to 2011. So with the way they count them:

    Vroman 2004
    Blalock 2006
    Haluska (Iowa) 2007
    Taylor 2008
    W. Johnson (Syracuse) 2010
    Brackins 2010

I think that is who they included. A little bit of a strange method with the transfers and all, but it is what it is I guess.
