Chris, interesting that you told him Kane has point locked down. Maybe you could have worded that differently, only a sith deals in absolutes

correct me if I'm wrong, but that was not Chris who asked that question. Didn't sound like his voice anyway

Don't think it was CW, but I love the question.

I like this young man - from this interview he seems honest and thoughtful and driven.

Sounded like Chris to me. It put him in a little awkward position.

That was Travis Hines from the Ames Tribune who asked that question.

Realistically, Kane will probably start, but he doesn't have the 1 "locked down" like Ejim and Niang for instance.

It's not impossible that Morris doesn't move into the 1 spot and Kane starts at the 2-3 if that gives us the best chance to win.

Either way, I think Morris will find himself getting some measurable minutes this year.

This. Remember, Kane's primary role coming out of HS was SG, not PG...he played PG at Marshall because they had no one. But if things work out right, we could have Morris/Bubu at point and a whole MESS of good shooters at the 2-3 spot. In my opinion, that's where the real fun is going to be - trying to determine who starts on a given night at the 2/3 spots.

Depth is a good thing though. A very good thing. (insert obligatory 'that's what she said' joke here).

Monte is going to force Fred to play him, no doubt about it in my mind. He's just way too talented to keep off the court. Whether that means starting or playing big minutes off the bench, he will have an impact next year.

Re: CFTV: Monte Morris talks about his first few weeks on campus

No reason he or Kane couldn't play the 2 is there? As much as both Niang and and Ejim get in foul trouble, I wouldn't be surprised to see us with four guards on the floor at times. Probably working on his long shot knowing how the Mayor loves to spread the floor. Granted, our bigs aren't LeBron, but when Miami plays small, kind of reminds me of Hoiball, although Mike Miller is a guard who is 6'8". Of course, Golden State also reminds me of Hoiball.

Re: CFTV: Monte Morris talks about his first few weeks on campus

Yeah...that's a BS question and and even more BS assertion. I can see Kane starting the year at PG, but I'd almost bet the farm he doesn't end up there.

By Kane's admission...he's off-guard who will do whatever is asked of him to help the team.

Both will see substantial minutes, from the very begining of the year through to the end...IMO.

Re: CFTV: Monte Morris talks about his first few weeks on campus

It's a great problem to have, and don't forget that Nazareth is in the mix at PG too. The more I look at this team, the more I like it. Morris/Long/Bubu at PG, Kane/Thomas/SDW at the 2, some combination of Hogue/SDW/Kane/Ejim at the 3. I doubt we see a 'center' on the floor very much. I could see times where we go four guards and Ejim or Niang at C.

I think we are VERY under the radar and will shock a lot of teams with our guard play.
